House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is drawing a parallel between President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and President Obama's planned executive actions on immigration reform.
"Does the public know the Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order?" Pelosi asked at a news conference Thursday morning.

Now that she mentioned it, while I agree with Lincoln’s emancipation proclamation in principle, Lincoln’s proclamation was likewise a constitutionally indefensible E.O. imo.

Jews rightly become offended when scumbag politicians compare the living conditions of the palistinians to the Holocaust. I wonder if there are any Americans who are descended from slaves who are offended that piglosi is comparing illegal immigration to slavery?
If Obama’s executive amnesty gives legal status to the same number of illegal aliens as slaves that were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, then we have nothing to worry about.

IIRC, it didn’t free anyone in the United States,
but just in the Confederate States,
in which, at the time of the Proclamation, it had no authority.
It’s her powers of reasoning. She can’t see any difference between Blacks brought here against their will as slaves, and other people who have crashed our party and won’t go home.
The states are going to have to do something, possibly drastic, to rein in this out of control fedgov.
And if they won’t, then the People will have to.
Perhaps organize a national “0 withholding” protest.

Again, real history lets us know that the 13th amendment ended slavery, not the Emancipation Proclamation.

The Emancipation Proclamation was a tool of war and intended to demoralize and attrit the Confederates of men and resources.
It took the “Ratification” if the 13th ammendment to end slavery.
This was accomplished under a constitutional process, which led to the 14th amendment.
Buy hell, we can always argue and litigate the abolishment of the 19th amendment and sue can go back to making sandwiches and cooking Sunday dinners....
Correct. It freed no one. It was an unconstitutional ploy by the original lawless president.

The US government has become nothing less than an organized crime ring.
