Airplanes are being warned to avoid airspace near an erupting Alaska volcano as it spews ash 30,000 feet above sea level.
The National Weather Service said Saturday ash is being blown to the west and northwest of Pavlof Volcano.
Pavlof began erupting three days ago, pushing lava out from a vent near its summit. On Friday, the ash cloud reached 16,000 feet.
Alaska Volcano Observatory Geophysicist Dave Schneider says the eruption intensified at 6 a.m. Saturday, sending the ash cloud higher.

WE just finished watching the movie Pompei. Nice special effects of the volcano erupting. Silly sword and sandals movie. And the female lead had a strange face. Maybe too much work.

Deadliest Catch is filmed in the Bering Sea on the northern side of the AK Peninsula.
I was there in 1978, on the southern side in the False Pass sockeye fishery. One of the volcanoes was smoking at the time, while Pavlov had a huge pumice ball on its western crater edge. I tried to take a picture of it, but the boat rolled and the image turned out blurred through the rigging.
Maybe God’s aiming it at Europe, Global Warming Central. ;)
Yah, I know it’ll disperse. But I have long thought that it’s going to get colder for a while, maybe because I grew up in the “we’re going to get hit with another Ice Age” era, and maybe because I believe God regularly overturns Man’s Plans when we forget who really runs things.
Think young, they say! Oh, hang on, gotta go pee again... Thought about drilling a hole in the floor and using s pilot’s friend, but the guy downstairs would just bitch, or bung it up with a golf tee. :)
Things get to cool for a long period of time no crops will grow and many people will die from starvation.
