Airplanes are being warned to avoid airspace near an erupting Alaska volcano as it spews ash 30,000 feet above sea level.
The National Weather Service said Saturday ash is being blown to the west and northwest of Pavlof Volcano.
Pavlof began erupting three days ago, pushing lava out from a vent near its summit. On Friday, the ash cloud reached 16,000 feet.
Alaska Volcano Observatory Geophysicist Dave Schneider says the eruption intensified at 6 a.m. Saturday, sending the ash cloud higher.

PING
Well them, the science is settled no more global warm.
OK environmentalist global warming is over now the earth is going to be cooler from this volcano.
PING
You realize this same volcano near Deadliest catch ground right???
That is some picture!
This is the website of the Alaska Volcano Observatory. It has lots of interesting info if you are a Vulcan.
I will always remember Mt. St. Helen’s eruption in our state:

And will Obama demand that the US reduce C02 emissions even further due to the evil American volcano eruption?
Here’s a link that takes you to a satellite image that shows the track of the ash.

I think it is unusual that it is tracking to the northwest since the prevailing weather patterns in that area usually flow east. Doesn’t matter, we’re all doomed anyways.
Obama’s destroying the world!
Is it going to blow up like St Helen’s.
I hope not.
Thanks for that picture.
I would be more concerned over volcanic winter than any warming especially with the low sunspot activity.
Krakatoa eruption was said to lower the global temperature for a period of time. A couple of big ones like that and we are in trouble — I have often thought the Bible verse about 1/3 of vegetation being “burned-up” could be by intense cold and not heat.
But that’s just an opinion.
That some picture
Some of SO CAL relatives don’t realize that Alaska is on volcano one of island straits
I drove up to Mt. St. Helens when I was up in that area on business. It was amazing! Several miles from the crater, I believe it was up to 15 miles, there was a sign that read, “entering blast area”.
This was years after the event and the trees were downed all in the same direction like thousands of match sticks. The whole side of the mountain had a gaping hole where it blew out the side. Was quite a sight.
