She’s old enough to vote, but still a child demanding support... Hmmmm.
Unless there is a contract of some sort the court had no jurisdiction on this. Appeal.
Most parents sacrifice lovingly for their children.
At what age, exactly, are the parents free from giving this ingrate daughter money? 40? 50?
The Big Education coffers must be filled.
GUILTY shyster.
Some of the judges sitting on the courts today are mind-numbingly ignorant.
Ah, I can explain:
These parents are divorced. Here in NJ, after a divorce, the parents are required to pay for their children’s college education for four years.
So, this ruling is very common here. The only thing unusual about this case is that the daughter herself filed the lawsuit. (Usually one parent is bringing the other parent to court over it.)
However, NJ law doesn’t say the child gets to choose any college she wants. (At least, that’s not my understanding of it.) An in-state college would be less expensive.
Are these parents very wealthy? Maybe that was taken into account in the case.
That’s ok, they will get it back when the parents sue the daughter for their old age care and expenses.
This is ridiculous. Even if she was living at home and was on good terms with them, they shouldn’t be obligated to pay for her college. Plenty of parents have not paid for their children’s college for a variety of reasons...can’t afford it, they want the children to learn to work their way through, whatever. Are all those parents evil and wrong?
Must be real fun at the Ricci household during Thanksgiving.
Nobody is “owed” college!
