If I were the Republicans....I’d go to Duckworth and just let her know that we’d respect her situation and offer her the Proxy Vote....if she wanted to step across the aisle and become a Republican.

The Republicans could have a FIELD DAY with this. How about the Republicans offer her a proxy vote in their caucus? With 245+ Reps it would be essentially symbolic...but it would be a BLAST to watch the fallout.

She should be discreetly approached by the Republicans over this. Though they don’t need to offer her much, anything is better than nothing with the Democrats. And caucusing with the Republicans would be another burn to them.
Importantly, her district has swung both Democrat and Republican in recent years, so it wouldn’t necessarily end her career.

The Iraq War veteran, who lost both legs when her helicopter was shot down in 2004, made the request in a letter to fellow Democrats. What in the Sam Hill is a disabled vet doing in the D party? She must be suffering from PTSD or she suffered some undiagnosed brain injury when the chopper went down.
