Rep. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, who is expecting a baby in December, is being denied a request to vote by proxy in the House Democratic Caucus leadership and committee member elections next weekeven though her doctor advises she can't travel to Washington in the late stages of her pregnancy.
The Iraq War veteran, who lost both legs when her helicopter was shot down in 2004, made the request in a letter to fellow Democrats. Her letter was read during a closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting on Thursday. But objections were raised, and the request was denied, with opponents including Democratic Steering and Police Committee cochair Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

If I were the Republicans....I’d go to Duckworth and just let her know that we’d respect her situation and offer her the Proxy Vote....if she wanted to step across the aisle and become a Republican.

Has Duckworth waved the bloody shirt on this issue yet?
Because that’s the only thing she has.

The DEMS are the people who don’t care about females. I would love to see Tim Scott in the leadership of the Rs along with Joni Ernst.

The Republicans could have a FIELD DAY with this. How about the Republicans offer her a proxy vote in their caucus? With 245+ Reps it would be essentially symbolic...but it would be a BLAST to watch the fallout.

"if she wanted to step across the aisle and become a Republican."
Only if she changes her whole political outlook. We don't need another RINO and we certainly have more than enough Congress people to do whatever it is we need to have done in the house.

Do Republicans allow a proxy vote... interesting question, but irrelevant to the fun that could be had with this!
Delving into the article, my initial suspicions proved to have merit... this decision was less about precedent, and more about denying a vote for a challenger to Pelosi's pick on some committee or other.
And I LOVE the idea of offering her a vote in the Republican caucus. Just think of the press release:
"Republicans honor family and value the input of women in our caucus. Democrats have denied representation to this pregnant disabled war veteran, and we believe that is just plain wrong. We'd like to offer our friend, Congresswoman Duckworth..."
It would be HILARIOUS.

But objections were raised, and the request was denied...The real reason is that she is an apostate democrat. They can't stand the fact that she failed to abort that inconvenient lump of tissue.
