The November 17 edition of People magazine includes a promotional article for Timothy Shriver’s new book Fully Alive, focusing on “The Forgotten Kennedy,” the lobotomized Rosemary Kennedy, sister to Jack, Bobby and Teddy.
"Why are we hiding from this story?" he asked himself, according to People’s Liz O’Neil. "There's nothing to fear here. It's a human story. It's a heroic story.” Heroically lobotomized and institutionalized? Apparently, this fiasco was “the true inspiration for his famous family’s love of service.”

JFK, heroically got his pt boat run down by a destroyer.
And got praise for it.
This is similar to getting your Porsche run down by a Pontiac Parisienne.
They butchered a poor girl who had a few emotional issues. That clan are a bunch of disgusting self-centered narcissists. They need to go find an island where they can all stand around feeling important get drunk and idolize each other.
That part of the story doesn't seem to heroic.

Rosemary Kennedy’s lobotomy is testimony to how truly vile and evil Joseph Kennedy really was.
Rosemary was born mildly retarded. Her mother, Rose, worked hard to give her a normal upbringing and keep her with her family.
But Joe secretly arranged for the lobotomy-—then a very dangerous and experimental procedure without even bothering to consult with Rose. A procedure which made Rosemary much worse and was confined to a convent for the rest of her life.
There were many despicable thing Joe Kennedy did, including his cowardice and Nazi sympathizing as ambassador to Great Britain during WWII, running away from the London Blitz and hiding in the countryside. Not to mention stealing the 1960 presidential election among other things.

Joseph Kennedy was a despicable human being. Read The Dark Side Of Camelot and The Sins Of The Father. One doctor who advised against performing the surgery was interviewed before he died. The surgery should never had occurred. Rosemary was not mentally disabled. She did not attend Harvard; she was attending community college - not good enough for daddy.
I have also heard this. And I heard that old Joe was concerned that she was prone to scandalous sexual misbehavior, which would have reflected badly on the family.
It seems so ironic, considering the scandalous sexual misbehavior of male Kennedy family members, that sexual behavior was a consideration at all.
How crazy that we’re supposed to believe that she was the inspiration for the Special Olympics.
Boy she used to share stories with my mother! I was too young really to pay any attention to details.
My mother and her sister are long gone these days. They both passed in 1992.

Apparently he had no problem with his sons’ promiscuity.
She was not even that. She was emotionally unstable which interfered with her ability to sit in a classroom and do conventional book learning. I have a relative who was a bit like this in school. She was an emotional basket-case with horrible grades, but when she is calm and relaxed it is obvious that she is as intelligent as anyone. Over the years she has had a hard time keeping a job and her marriage fell apart early on, but as she has gotten older I think she has found her niche and settled into a normal life. That's what infuriates me about the Kennedys. I picture my relative in the same setting as Rosemary and it all fits. I can't imagine the horror of a human being they destroyed by butchering her brain -- just horrible.
It's all good. Rosemary's in Heaven now. Joe's undergoing an eternity of non-stop lobotomies with red-hot probes through his eye sockets.

Yep, that gets me too. Sexual misbehavior was ok for the Kennedy men.
I saw a Kennedy TV movie not long ago. And old Joe was with a family secretary in an office. And he kissed her right on the lips! The strong implication that old Joe was doing whatever he wanted with the female family hired help. And his sons picked up that behavior as being ok, I’m sure.
I wish that “fatboy.cc” site was still around. It had a good section on her.
