Retired Air Force Col. Rob Maness is joining forces with Rep. Bill Cassidy in an effort to seal a win for Republicans over Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Maness will formally endorse Cassidy during a star-studded Republican rally in Baton Rouge on Monday that will feature presumed presidential candidates Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Gov. Bobby Jindal.
U.S. Sen. David Vitter, state Sen. Elbert Guillory, state Rep. Paul Hollis, 6th Congressional District candidate Garret Graves, former U.S. Rep. Jeff Landry, and LAGOP chairman Roger Villere will also attend the "Unity Rally."
Maness finished third behind Landrieu and Cassidy in Tuesday's primary. He finished with 14 percent of the vote.
Maness said during his concession speech that Landrieu needed to be replaced, but he failed to actually endorse Cassidy, never mentioning him in the speech.

Maness is well positioned to run for the special election in 2016
Vitter was last elected in 2010, so the 2016 race is the end of his term anyway.
I think vitter is planning to run for governor in 2015, which may engender a special election
Vitter has been running since last spring.
It won’t be a special election, as Vitter’s term is up in 2016. If he’s elected, he will appoint his replacement.
If Maness dropped out of the race would it have put Cassidy over the 50% threshold? Hard to say.. Now at least he gets to show some class and goodwill plus a deeper profile for a future election process.
Plus Miss Piggy gets to witness that her loyalty to DC is not returned when she needs their help. How fitting-—
I heard Sarah Palin mention this and that she was flying to Louisiana to attend the unity event. Imagine, Snow White invading Miss Piggy’s territory.
Oh, I forgot .. .. Miss Piggy hasn’t actually lived in Louisiana for many, many years.

Republican insurgent Rob Maness announced Saturday morning that he would back Congressman Bill Cassidy in his race to unseat incumbent U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Maness received about 14 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s primary, which put Cassidy and Landrieu in a Dec. 6 runoff.
Maness, of Madisonville, had said all along that he would support the winning Republican in the primary.
A retired U.S. Air Force officer backed by the national TeaParty Express, Maness had run to the right of Cassidy, who some in the GOP had considered not conservative enough.
Since Tuesday night, when Cassidy polled 603,032 votes – or about 41 percent of the total cast – the Baton Rouge Republican has been shoring up the most conservative elements of the GOP. Cassidy’s first public appearance after election night was to accept the backing of the Susan B. Anthony List, a national group that opposes abortion.
Landrieu topped the field with about 16,000 votes more than Cassidy.
Maness and his wife, Candy, joined Cassidy and his wife, Laura, Friday night at Ye Olde College Inn in uptown New Orleans, according to the Maness Facebook page.
“I shared with Bill some thoughts on ways to grow our party and keep our elected officials more connected to those they serve. Before it was over, Bill even helped me put a new bumper sticker on our Truck,” Maness said in a prepared statement.
They discussed public policy and the situation at Bayou Corne, where residents have been displaced by a sinkhole, the Facebook entry stated.
Maness said he would join U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, and U.S. Rep. Cassidy at a noontime function in Huey’s, a bar in downtown Baton Rouge.
Billed as a “unity rally” the Louisiana Republican Party says that in addition to Paul, Maness and Cassidy, U.S. Sen. David Vitter, Gov. Bobby Jindal and other prominent Louisiana Republicans would attend.

I was praying that Rob Maness would win though am happy the run off will have a united force to take care of business with Landrieu. She has done nothing but push the leftwing agenda in which has hurt her constituency. These women like this, can you image how manipulating they are to their own families, if you don’t condone to their wants. She comes across as being such.
It’s not enough to win this race, we need to win by a landslide. Send them a message, Louisiana!

I voted on principle for Col. Maness.
Since I will have to slog out to the voting box, again, I will be voting for Cassidy, since it is high time that “the blonde from dah chawk-litt ci-tee” gets the-box-for-her-desk-with-a-security-guard exit.
But Vitter said in an earlier interview that neither are options. “There will be absolutely no understanding, arrangement, or deal tying any appointment to the campaign in any way,” he said.

As for Cassidy, Vitter cleared the rest of the GOP field for him early-on, convincing Congressman John Fleming, state Rep. Paul Hollis and former Congressman Jeff Landry to sit this one out. That helps explain Vitter’s encouraging words for Landry’s attorney general bid and makes one wonder if Fleming might be positioned to run for Vitter’s seat, should Vitter be elected governor.

Cassidy’s vote on the 2009 Hate Crimes bill in Congress was a major sticking point with Perkins and many of the other activist social conservatives in the state, and it’s a reason why Perkins took such a hard line against supporting him in the earlier stages of the campaign even despite the fact Cassidy’s rating on the FRC Action scorecard has been 100 for the past several years.
Still have to go out and vote she defeated Woody Jenkins in 1996 by 5,000 in runoff to win 1st term 1996, won 2nd runoff in 2002 by 3%. Don’t take anything for granted, 6 years is such a long time, the next President will be at the end of his first term to get another chance at this. Vote Bill Cassidy December 6th
We will turn out on 12/6. Her fat ass will be bacon by 10 PM. You have no idea the intense dislike the productive class has for her here in Louisiana. It’s almost visible.
Well, Dec. 6 is also the day of the SEC Championship Game. LSU will not be in the game, but this is Louisiana and the game is football. Vote early before Dec. 6th and pray for a freezing rain in New Orleans on Dec. 6th. Let Mary see what a “real” shellacking feels like.
Does anyone know how many days of Early Voting there will be for this Run-off Election, and when it starts?

Nov. 22-29 is the early voting period for the Dec. 6, 2014 general (except Sunday and Nov. 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday).
Early voting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Early voting takes place at the registrar of voters office in each parish and at designated locations in certain parishes.
