More reasons to doubt Darwin

A review of: Darwin‘s Doubt, the explosive origin of animal life and the case for intelligent design by Stephen C. Meyer

HarperOne, Nashville TN, USA 2013

Stephen Meyer has an impressive pedigree in the philosophy of science and geophysics but is better known as a prominent spokesperson for the ID movement in the USA. Darwin’s Doubt3 is, in many ways, a sequel to his Signature in the Cell (2009)4, both of them impressive in length, scope and incisive analysis. In both, he explicitly distances ID from biblical creationism, or from the claims that ID is based on religious belief. So is this ‘stealth creationism’ as some of ID’s critics have claimed? That will continue to be debated. Certainly, it’s pertinent that, having avoided discussing the identity of the ‘IDer’ throughout the book, he belatedly acknowledges that the “ability to detect design makes belief in an intelligent designer (or a creator, or God) not only a tenet of faith, but … brings science and faith into real harmony.”

There are many many dissenters from Darwin who are NOT young earth creationists.

Stephen Meyer is an example of a scholar who has written much important about the bankruptcy of Darwinism. He also distances himself from a young earth view, but this is one of his books that many more people should be aware of.

When I post articles here on FR about a young earth, it is important to remember that someone can come to the conclusion that Darwin was/is a fraud (like Meyer), but still they don’t take hold of a full young earth perspective.

I realize that.

By the way, I often don’t have time to fully interact here on these posts.

My goal is to post articles that others can comment upon and discuss. Sometimes I can comment, but most of the time, I simply don’t have time.

Darwin wasn’t a monkey’s uncle, he was a horse’s ass.

You may quote me if you wish on that. :-)

“Darwin wasn’t a monkey’s uncle,”

that would have required...De-Evolution ...at some point...

The father of Quantum Physics, who for much of his career was surrounded by atheists in Nazi Germany, admitted this much:

“In the history of science, ever since the famous trial of Galileo, it has repeatedly been claimed that scientific truth cannot be reconciled with the religious interpretation of the world. Although I am now convinced that scientific truth is unassailable in its own field, I have never found it possible to dismiss the content of religious thinking as simply part of an outmoded phase in the consciousness of mankind, a part we shall have to give up from now on. Thus in the course of my life I have repeatedly been compelled to ponder on the relationship of these two regions of thought, for I have never been able to doubt the reality of that to which they point.” W. Heisenberg, 1974

If you doubt Darwin, you doubt Bill Nye. If you doubt Bill Nye, you are anti-science.

Look all you anti-science neanderthals - Bill Nye said evolution is true, so that settles it!

SETTLED SCIENCE!

End of story!

I would agree that one can dispute Darwin without being a young earth creationist..

I particularly to dispute the claim or impression given that Darwinian evolution is a proved fact for the creation of all species on Earth..that is a flat out lie

It is a fact that created species through genetic modification exist.. in fact are even patentable

yet I know of no way to test to distinguish between a created species and what are claimed to be naturally evolved species ...

so you have no way to “prove” origin...

now you can look at the fossil record

but ironically created species would appear in bursts vs natural evolve species which you expect to see have a more linear path appearing in the fossil record
