GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — Election officials in five counties began counting absentee ballots Thursday that will likely resolve the race for U.S. representative in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.

First-term Democratic U.S. Rep. John Delaney led Republican Dan Bongino by 2,103 votes out of more than 181,000 cast after Garrett and Frederick counties reported their canvass results Thursday. Officials were also counting absentee ballots in part of Montgomery and all of Allegany and Washington counties

Fingers crossed on this one. Dan would be a great Representative. Wish there were more like him.

I’m waiting with great expectation on this. Bongino ran a great campaign with zero help. To be this close in a district hand drawn to favor Delaney is awesome.

Montgomery County will probably do Bongino in... 2-1 for Delany in the vote already tabulated.

It appears there may be illegal voter fraud....

Bongino also raised the possibility that a pending civil lawsuit alleging voter fraud could affect the outcome of the race. The lawsuit filed last month by activists in U.S. District Court in Baltimore contends they found evidence of non-U.S. citizens registered to vote in Frederick County, and asserts the same situation exists statewide. The state Board of Elections has acknowledged a possibility that some noncitizens have voted since state and local election boards have no system for verifying the citizenship of voter registration applicants.

As I recall, they found some 200 voters who got out of jury duty by claiming they were non-citizens; yet the voters rolls showed they were registered to vote — and did indeed vote! — in recent elections. Those people should be prosecuted.

Yep. Absolutely! That's why the Md. DemonRats stuck liberal/leftist Montgomery Co. into the conservative Md. northwest districts. But still, it's great that Bongino has done so well. Maybe he'll pull it out in the end.

From a simple search - all districts except for one (District 1 - Andy Harris Repub) went for Democrats while the governor was a Republican win.

Elijah Cummings won with 70%. Wonder if those illegal voters were also in Cummings district?

I knew nothing about him until now, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_G._Brown , so why did he lose? Was he rejected by white Democrats?
