For those who say network scheduling isnt a big deal anymore thanks to DVRs, we turn your attention to what happened Thursday night on ABC. In a very jarring transition, the adorable end of the annual special Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown segued into Scandal, which happened to kick off with a very steamy sex scene.
On Monday, the watchdog group Parents Television Council unleashed an angry statement at ABC condemning the abrupt shift in kid-centric programming to a very much not age-appropriate scene. After all, families are known to gather around the cartoon every year and may not have anticipated that they needed to quickly change the channel.
Shame on ABC for putting a peep show next to a playground, PTC President Tim Winter said. In less than 26 seconds we were taken from the Peanuts pumpkin patch to a steamy Scandal sex scene.

I gave up on that show about the third time some ugly old bear called some other ugly old bear their “husband.”
Good grief!
We got DVDs of Charlie Brown. ABC isn’t on our TV schedule. Mostly junk shows...
“Keep paying the liberal tithe folks. Hollywood appreciates the support. DNC does too.”
That’s exactly it Norm. Job #1 is to stop feeding the beast. That is something we ALL can do right now.
So kids got to see something rising out of the pumpkin patch and it wasn’t the Great Pumpkin?
Everything you want to watch is available somewhere on the internet for free.
They spend millions on being purposeful. How many floors of their building are dedicated to staff whose job it is to make sure everything is according to ABC’s purposes? Marketing, advertising, research, development.... Yeah, they did it on purpose.
Schroeder!
A Charlie Brown Christmas is fantastic.
Hark the Herald Angels Sing....
Actually, the cover of his book said "THE MEDIUM IS THE MASSAGE".
Which may have been a Freudian slip by the publisher.
In truth, the medium is the massage.
Must have been Pigpen.
ISIS should be let in just long enough to eradicate this stuff.
That’s the thing; TV channels used to air commercials between the shows. That would give parents time to turn the TV off. Now they don’t anymore.
Didn’t Schroeder die of a heroin overdose after playing in a piano bar all of those years?...
I taped it the other night and watched it with the kids. I just FF to the end to check it out... as the credits rolled there were 2 commercials playing, then a third commercial started playing and the recording stopped on my DVR. So we were saved from it but I will say that the show didn’t end and then segue directly into the scene. There were some commercials.
I will give ABC the benefit of the doubt because EVERY show that we watch with the kids is generally followed but something really awful.
We are hyper vigilant with the remote as it is 100% normal for a family show to end and be followed with some murder drama or other show that opens with some horrible shocking scene (beheaded corpse with insects on it, gay guys making out etc.) Its the new normal!
ANd to add, we watched it in the Charlotte area. Maybe other markets went directly into the scene and if that’s the case it was probably intended by someone working in that station..
or Sanford & Son......................
I’m not at all surprised. No ads for ED remedies are supposed to air during family viewing time, yet they are shown on every NFL game.
So, "Disney airs sex scene after 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown'."
No, that was 10 minutes into the show...
