The cooling was predicted at least two years ago by Russian scientist Habibullo Abdussamatov, supervisor of the Astrometria project on the International Space Station and head of space research at the Pulkovo Observatory, St Petersburg. Abdussamatov has predicted that this year will mark the start of a downward trend into a mini ice age, with its nadir in 2055. The cold period would be the fifth mini ice-age to occur in a millennium, suggesting that the climate is following a well-worn natural pattern.

The only good thing that came form it was the fact they stopped growing grapes in England...and had to make beer instead of wine.

No meteorological reason. Early cold snap. Mini-ice age? The headline seemed to tie the two together in a random sort of way.

I remember when I was in college (1975). People were talking about global cooling. The cover of Time magazine said” The Coming Ice Age”

I wonder how worse it will be if the poles flip. There is supposed to be a time of fluctuation where the electromagnetic field is at its weakest and things that usually bounce off just come on down. could be how the Biblical meteors make it here. I was wondering about how cold it will get (I love the winter) and while searching for the history of mini-ice ages found an article from back in Sept. about the Russian prediction. The Russians are really Putin it to the current administration aren’t they?

I was camping in South Carolina over the weekend. Trail Life USA Camp Aiken received 3X the normal annual snowfall on November 1. I woke to 4” of global warming on my tent. Forecast called for the possibility of a few flurries.

Glad I moved to Arizona! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! We’re actually in the middle of a cold wave right now. Today’s high will only be about 67 degrees. It was 90 just a few days ago.
I’ll be 109 in 2055.

Halloween night has always brought in the first cold snap here. Guess what happened this year? We got our first cold snap Halloween night.
