” as they retire at 59...they won’t live long and thus the pension owed will be less.”

Interesting. . .but can’t serve past the age of 55 unless you are a general officer or have congressional approval.

How’s that compare to Lois Lerner?

The REAL story is the retired LEO and Firemen collecting a taxable pension AND a NON-TAXABLE disability amount. Much of the disability is crapola and is not deserved.

The military in this story I am assuming is collecting a totally taxable amount in the end.

Years ago a majority of members of Congress were veterans.

Now it’s less than 30%. The majority now thinks veterans are overcompensated.

Go figure.

Can not say it any better then Gaffer did, but cut it down.

If you earned it you should get it. Isn’t that how America works?

Nearly 60,000 veterans were triple dippers last year, drawing a total of $3.5 billion in military retirement pay plus veterans and Social Security disability benefits at the same time,

So. One government agency spent THIRTY THOUSAND dollars on Starbucks coffee in one year. They've pissed away $20 billion in secret purchases in recent MONTHS.

And don't forget the Justice Departments $16 dollar muffins. They can go suck eggs.

Am I supposed to be upset that someone who actually works for a living, and has given enough years to the military to earn a pension as well as other jobs, can do the same thing as a do nothing leach of a politician? Sorry can’t get worked up over it.

If you paid for social security by having the tax taken out of your check plus you earned your military pension, then you certainly have the right to both. Plus if a veteran was injured, then that’s even more they should be getting.

Now, where’s the report about politicians and government employees triple or fourple dipping at every level?

According to some on FR, the civilian part is illegitimate since civilian govies are all lazy useless money grubbers.

Yep. Some of those “injuries” include sleep apnea. Total scam by the military.

Unfortunately sleep apnea can develop while serving. Mine did not develop until late in life. And if you develop a condition while serving (others medical issues include things like seizers) then you are entitled to a full medical discharge with benefits.

When you enlist you are the property of the federal government, and they are responsible for you until your enlistment is up, after that your veterans status allows a veteran to use the VA hospital system.

Just as they have a problem discerning the differences between a Romney and an Obama, they refuse to discern between those who are either in highly politicized positions or organizations and those who actually work right with/along side the military. Many of us do military style jobs and directly support them.

You can also retire from the state and add a fourth monthly check.

How do I get in on that!

A better scam is to become a police officer, serve to retirement, then apply for the D.R.O.P. program. You get paid your retirement, PLUS your regular salary, while you continue to work. Everybody's happy—except the taxpayer.
