The summer, thankfully, has been largely bereft of the dismal trend of bankers committing suicide, but as Bloomberg reports, Thierry Leyne, a French-Israeli banker and partner of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the disgraced former chief of the IMF, was found dead Thursday after apparently taking his own life by jumping off the 23rd floor of one of the Yoo towers, a prestigious residential complex in Tel Aviv. This is the 16th financial services executive death this year.
Bloomberg reports that Thierry Leyne, the French-Israeli entrepreneur who last year started an investment firm with former International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, has died. He was 48.
Leyne died yesterday in Tel Aviv, according to his assistant at the firm, who asked not to be identified. Le Figaro newspaper reported that he committed suicide.
Last year, Leyne joined Strauss-Kahn in establishing the Paris-traded firm Leyne, Strauss-Kahn & Partners after the former IMF head bought a 20 percent stake to help develop the investment-banking franchise of Leynes company, Luxembourg-based Anatevka SA. Leyne had taken Anatevka public in March 2013 before joining forces with Strauss-Kahn, commonly referred to in France as DSK.
The new partnership -- usually called LSK & Partners by using both mens initials -- was part of Strauss-Kahns efforts to rebuild his post-IMF life after he was charged in 2011 of criminal sex, attempted rape, sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment and the forcible touching of a chambermaid at the Sofitel hotel in Manhattan. Strauss-Kahn denied the charges, which were later dropped. He settled the maids lawsuit in 2012.

The medication I take for acid indigestion is made in Israel.
I don’t “get” suicide. The closest I’d come would be with terminally ill people in excruciating pain, but I don’t believe I’d do that even then, not my decision to make. Easy for me to say until I’ve been there, I suppose.
But, to do it over something as fleeting as money? Completely alien concept to me. Easy come, easy go. You get it back just as you got it the first time. It’s seldom permanent. So many wealthy individuals have gone through multiple cycles of boom and bust.
Ooops...wrong thread! Sorry!
Your comment made sense to me.
23rd floor? Yep, that’s gonna leave a mark.
Ping.
Banker-lemmings.
maybe he was being chased by a naked Strauss-Kahne...
This has been the preferred means of suicide in the financial world since the stock market crashed in 1929.
Again, it’s only money, kids. This banker didn’t have a nest egg to see him through tough times? Like his furniture had already been put out on the street?
It didn’t look like the Madoff deaths were on your list (were they considered bankers or just stock brokers?). Mark Madoff killed himself and Andrew Madoff died of cancer.
"Thankfully"??
That’s a lot of floors to think about what you just chose to do.
I suppose we will all be getting letters from Nigeria asking for our help getting the millions of sheckles he stashed away out of the country.
I did not include the Maddoff’s in this list as I am not sure how they are relevant.
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
What the heck is it with all these bankers raining from the sky? My guess is they’re not all committing suicide.
Another ‘trade secret’
