Transcript of Joel Osteen's invocation prayer over Houston Mayor, Annise Parker, who was inaugurated as mayor of Houston. She is the first openly gay mayor of the city:

God is the ultimate judge but He has given us the Holy Bible with all the answers. God has called homosexuality an abomination. I won’t argue with God.
Would have been an opportune time for a lightning bolt.
As a reminder...
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (AMP)
1 FIRST OF all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,
2 For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.
3 For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior,
4 Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.
And .. You may never know if she repents; and I’ve not seen or read anything that makes me believe she thinks she’s living a “Godly” life.
but GOD, who is RICH IN MERCY.
It would be better to pray for her Salvation; or for a laborer to cross her path.
God will never turn away from a truly repentant heart. She is able to receive Salvation like anyone else who repents.
Look Joel Osteen is all syrup and sugar coated but he’s not devious nor a usurper of christianity.
Christians are ordered to pray for our enemies.
Joel had an obligation under God to call her to repentance. That wasn’t exactly what he did, though...
AMEN!
I have never, ever, felt like puking my guts out over a prayer someone said, until now.
How do you know he had an obligation .. did GOD tell you that HE told Joel to call her to repentance ..?????
You have no way of knowing that .. so it’s a false premise.
“Christians are ordered to pray for our enemies.”
Yes, but to turn away from wicked ways. Wishing an enemy health and success w/o demanding repentance is only enabling evil.
He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord. People may want us to justify the wicked, but if we do, we are an abomination to the Lord. We must hate what God hates. Proverbs 17:15
God already answered your question.
“I don’t supposed you would consider canceling your Osteen devotion, would you? He is an utter fraud, snake oil salesman and charlatan.”
Vision and the other purveyor’s of Osteen’s so called “gospel” either do not care the damage they are doing to the Kingdom of Christ are they are just clueless about Osteen’s so called teachings. I guess the Osteen crowd has the Religion administrator between a rock and a hard place.
“How do you know he had an obligation .. did GOD tell you that HE told Joel to call her to repentance ..?????”
I guess we are all supposed to remain silent about sin, and praise someone in public and ask God’s blessing on them without rebuking openly evil lives?
ALL Christians have that responsibility. If I’m going to publicly ask God to bless someone, I’m going to first discuss their relation with God with them in private - or decline to endorse them.
But then, Joel isn’t known for calling anyone to repent, is he...
Exactly. It sounds like acceptance.
Just perfect. I could not have out-done your words. Just perfect. Every time my TV somehow stops on one of these charlatan’s programs, I can't hit the remote button any slower than a nanosecond.
Amen!
I second that motion.
“Vision”’s daily posts are a joke.
His (Osteen) pastor is a wolf.
