Well duh. Everybody knows that another 200 or so laws would have prevented the Ottawa "incident". Right? Hello. Anybody there? Who didn't see this coming? I suppose the MAIGgots, moms, mark and gabby puppet show and all their counterparts are still evaluating how to address their statements. I really, really don't like those people.

I simply can’t wait for this to all be explained to me by the Atlantic. Not.

“The legislation required licenses for gun ownership along with the establishment of a universal gun registry (including long guns). However, as Forbes pointed out last winter, the process turned out to be both expensive and inefficient, and the long-gun registry was scrapped in 2012.”
“expensive and inefficient” I suppose that means, like Connecticut and the mandate that they register their “assault weapons” most Canadians just ignored the law, eh?

The Canadian guns are difficult? Why? Substandard?
American gun makers do a pretty good job, as do some Europeans.
Could be too cold or something to manufacture high quality in Canada?
To: rktman
I’ve been saying for decades, if there is a mass shooting you should hope the perp uses an “assault weapon”, because by far the deadliest weapon used is an old fashioned 12 gauge shotgun.

Just as Canada got rid of their useless Long Gun Registry, this happens.
It's almost as if someone wants an excuse to bring it back.

"If these cars fall into the wrong hands, you get one dead soldier and another injured like you did at Montreal."
There fixed it.

It was a combination of Canadians ignoring the law and having a system that made Healthcare.gov look effective and cost-efficient by comparison. Iirc the system was supposed to cost $100 million to build, ended up over $2 billion and still didn’t work properly.

Aside from the muzzy’s and Vickers’ guns, how many were within a mile of there? Now, what if Vickers hadn’t been right there?
