The case for voting Republicans, even those you think are Rinos
10/18/2014 | chrisnj

Posted on 10/18/2014 4:45:34 AM PDT by chrisnj

Many conservative voters are disillusioned at the Republicans for not standing up for their principles, for compromising with the Democrats, for having no spines etc. etc. They vow not to vote for the Republicans, or outright vote for the Democrats, to send them a message, to teach them a lesson. I think this kind of message/lesson serves no purpose but to cut off your own supply of oxygen.

Almost all the Republicans rejected obumbocrap (obamacare) but Harry Reid and his crooked Dems jammed it through deviously. The House Republicans have passed many legislations to repeal obumbocrap but Reid et al killed them all. The House Republicans have passed many good legislations but Reid and his crooks buried them all. The media blasted the Republicans on all their good constitutional/conservative acts, but remained silent on the Democrats' constant acts to destroy the constitution. This is a known fact and all of us always complain about it. Yet we are not showing any understanding of the difficult situations facing the House Republicans. While the Dem voters are behind their Dems 100%, we are demanding perfection while offering no help. We blame the Republicans for this and that but we are not working hard to create an opportunity or situation where they can stand on their principles and serve us faithfully. Why don't we vote them into majority in both House and Senate, so they have more control and feel less pressured to compromise, but more encouraged to listen to us to enact constitutional legislations for the good of the country. This is not excuses for the Republicans' non-performance. It is simply a fact that a good person can only do so much under difficult situations! We should understand that it is human nature to be rather weak, especially when under pressure. But given the favorable situations we are more likely to stand up taller for our principles. Remember when the Republicans were the majority in both Houses - even with a Democrat president Clinton, Congress was able to serve the people well! So if we are able to vote the Republicans into the majority, we just might be able to influence them into reversing the course to get our country back on the right track. Considering that many people have awaken and patriots are much more enthusiatically engaged in shaping government policies, we can realistically hope to get better leaders who will listen to the people again. All we need to do is unite and vote the crooks out but vote the acceptable albeit imperfect Republican candidates in, then work hard to influence them...

Certainly, with rampant voter fraud, ignorant and low-information voters, AND, the conservatives who vow to stay home or vote for the Dems, there is no hope that the Republicans will be in control of both Houses. It was said that those conservatives who wouldn't vote for the Republicans are part of the reasons why the Dems won the elections. So these conservatives are in effect cutting off the supply of oxygen to their own hopes (and our hopes)!

History suggests that the Republicans are more constitution-abiding leaders. We need to create the opportunities for them to abide to the constituion - by voting them into majority and then pressuring them into serving the people the way they should.

We’re seeing how totalitarian governments take over with the popular vote from the inside this time.

By all means, tell the point of losing our country to GOP pols that atr indistinguishable from Dems and the dems themselves. Please remind me why living in a principleless country is worth living in at all.

For 3 decades it has been the ‘we’ll get’em next election” Crap. It got worse every year. We arent budging. If America goes down it’s on the shoulders of the voters that took it down with RINOs assisting Dems. they will have done it and it is 100% their fault.

Since you can’t produce one of us that voted for a lib, that sorta drops all cred for your position.

After Mississippi? Don’t think so. I wouldn’t dream of tainting the their ballot with my icky vote.

I’ll vote for most of the Republicans down ticket, sure. Hopefully we’ll get some good conservatives rising up through the ranks. But the top of the ticket? Nope. Not going to happen.

Consider... Obamacare passed with only Dem votes but the GOP has implemented it with every CR since. They had a mandate to stop it since 2010 and every opportunity... and they implemented the program every step of the way instead.

I don’t think voting Democrat serves our country’s interests... but the GOP is only slightly less desirable in its current state. Remember that the Communist Goals for America were read into the Congressional record back in 1961. One of their goals was to get one or both political parties. No question they got one. They certainly appear to have placed leadership in the GOPe.

Here in Michigan we have a democrat candidate for secretary of state who is openly saying that he intends to fix our system so no republican will ever win again. When asked if he intends to legalize cheating he simply says he intends to do whatever it takes to eliminate republicans.

Fortunately he has virtually no chance of beating our current SOS who has done a lot to strengthen our voting laws.

We have to strip Demoncrats from every position of power first. THEN work on the RINOs simutaneously.... but if we leave the Demoncrats as well as the RINOs in power, then we are screwed.

Sucks to be you. BTW, hows the conscience after helping the GOP bring a plague to America? It was your RINOs after all that stood silently and let obama have his way.

And since they just told us that if they take power we get amnesty, I am not sure why you are on a conservative site at all.

I, for one, am tired of being told to vote republican every election cycle just to keep democrats from winning. RINOs know this. It's a never ending story. My voting a straight party vote has not improved the republican party. It has only made the two parties more alike.

...and going to pout on the sidelines...

When the purist go to the sidelines to pout, they leave the rest of us on the battlefield to be politically slaughtered by the Leftist.

The purists may think they are safe on the sidelines, but what they don't seem to understand is that once the Leftists have defeated us, they will train their sights on the purists sitting on the sidelines. Goodbye freedom of religion. Goodbye gun rights. Goodbye (fill in the blank), etc. When the purists are by themselves, who will join them to protect their rights?

The biggest problem the Republican Party has in terms of credibility with conservative voters is that their track record is too recent. The last time we had a Republican in the White House and Republican control of both Houses of Congress we got things like the Homeland Security Dept., the Patriot Act, a new Medicare prescription drug entitlement, and massive increases in Federal spending (the Federal budget grew by something like 58% just in the eight years of the Bush administration).

Forget about Republicans opposing a Democratic agenda. What is the purposes of electing Republicans if they actually IMPLEMENT a Democratic agenda?

Can Freeper dogma be refuted? Can someone be allowed to not ride the band wagon? What is a RINO anyway? Where does the flat right end of the bell curve become Rino moderation? Is there an asympotitic uptick indigatind Rinoism?

Then again, can the dogma be refuted?

There are at least seven points of poop in you comment, every one of them debatable or outright garbage.

...and I’m going to leave it at that because you would have to unbudge in order for a conversation to take place.

“Come on Charlie Brown, kick the football”.

Come on dude - give Hillary a chance; it worked so good giving Obama a second term. Makes perfect sense to clear the way for the hard-core leftists that will force their perversions on us when we keep out those who may believe things we don't but who also understand that it is up to the States/Organizations to decide most of it vs. the Federal government. Oh wait...it doesn't make sense.

That’s definitely my concern. The best we can is fight like hell to get the most conservative candidate, but vote against the Democrats regardless.
