he political momentum for a travel ban on West African nations continued to swell Thursday, but health and transportation experts were uniform in saying it wouldnt stem the spread of Ebola and could do more harm than good.
That hasnt stopped politicians and pundits ranging from House Speaker John Boehner to former Obama press secretary Jay Carney from calling for a travel ban. The appeal is obvious: It sounds like a no-brainer to build an infectious-disease moat around the U.S., blocking some flights and barring people who come from the countries suffering the worst Ebola outbreaks.
But the reality, the experts say, is that those kinds of measures have failed before. And this time, experts inside and outside the administration warned, throttling travel would hammer already devastated West African countries, make it difficult to send relief where its needed, and send an unknown number of infected travelers into the shadows, increasing the difficulty of knowing how many were entering the U.S.

Who's that?
Wait, I get it!
I understand what they are trying to teach us all!
In order to not get burned, we must put our hand in the fire! (hat tip to Phil Valentine)
We are so lucky to have people so smart as this!
We should give them all a raise!
Yeah. And then trip the trapdoor.
The only way to close down the flights is to pass a veto proof law in both house and senate. Might be able to do it in house but Reid would block it in the Senate. Also, one of the flight crew unions could refuse to fly there but they appear to be supporting Obama on this issue; based on flight attendant union president on Hannity tonight.

To liberals, never let a crisis go to waste.
They want to use this one to demonstrate how competent the federal government is in addressing a communicable disease.
But its failing miserably and the liberal answer as always is to let it fail some more.
If people die, so be it. Your government knows best.
Prison for murderers doesn’t work.
Taking aspirin for a hangover doesn’t work.
Telling my wife I don’t need to lose 30 pounds doesn’t work.
Voting for RINO’s doesn’t work.
+1
Wow I didn’t think you could pile bull dung that high! They actually did a cut and paste job with their illegal immigration arguments.
I read this on three Lefty websites today. Shadows. Liberals hate shadows, like illegals or gays.
What a pair of morons. Obviously they nothing of what Europe and other African countries are doing. They know nothing of what Firestone did in a Nigerian town to stop and outbreak. They are more concerned about the meme that says we will hurt the economies of third world countries rather than dealing with this disease. I say they should go be on the front lines in Sierra Leone or Liberia. Let them tell us how inconsequential all of this id then
Right .... I think in all their pointy head delusionary thinking, they actually think they know how to contain this here ..... But I have a feeling it’s going to backfire miserably on them .... I think this disease is something entirely different ...... Something that’s going to kick their PC backwards thought processes and “protocols” to the curb....
Why in the world wouldn’t it work!? Not only a travel ban, but a stay in your house and feed you with food on a stick ban. Idiots.
Never in my life have I seen so much STUPID coming from the MSM.
From Heather’s ‘About me’ page:
I’m a Capitol Hill reporter covering transportation policy. I’ve gotten pretty good at chasing members of Congress around and like to wear cute shoes while doing that.
Yep, sounds like someone we should listen to.
I guess the idea is that all potential Ebola carriers will naturally only come in through normal channels, so that we can track and monitor them. That is very obliging of them. Reminds me breaking into the high school dance. JV indeed.
People who post this horse shit are just doing it to prop up obama’s defense for open borders and Amnesty... After all you see - if we can close the borders to people from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea - THEN WHY NOT MEXICO and CENTRAL AMERICA .. this is what they fear.
Please spread the word.. stopping flights from the Ebola Countries is not a good answer - it would help but it is much easier to just stop issuing VISAS to the residents of the Ebola stricken countries... That way they cannot do as Mr. Duncan did and fly to Brussels or somewhere else in the EU...
NO VISA to AMERICA - NO FLY To AMERICA.. if you don’t have a Visa in your passport allowing you entrance into the USA - then you cannot even get on a plane to the USA...
STOP VISAS - much easier ... an order to the U.S. Embassies and Consulates in Africa ... No Visas issued to people holding passports to citizens of Sierra Leone, Guinea or Liberia - and add any other country that develops a Ebola Epidemic. EASY.
If - and it looks good so far - the Dems lose control of the Senate - out Congress could pass legislation banning issuance of Visas to citizens of the Ebola countries - stick that legislation into some big bill that obama cannot afford to veto and we have it ... otherwise starting today - pound Congress to stop issuing Visas...
If we don’t stop Ebola in the U.S. OUR Visas may be banned by other countries who have sense enough to protect themselves.
If travel bans don’t eork why desire to ban travel for medical staff that has no symptoms??????
These are some of the dumbest arguments I've ever heard. These people are complete idiots and liberal Democrats of the highest order.
They are literally saying we have to expose the United States to Ebola in order to save Africa flight costs.
“throttling travel would hammer already devastated West African countries, make it difficult to send relief where its needed, and send an unknown number of infected travelers into the shadows...”
As soon as a leftist is losing an argument they start throwing people into the “shadows”.
