The health workers who treated Dallas’ first Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan should not have been allowed to move around, county health director Zachary Thompson said Wednesday.

Thompson said that decision isn’t up to him — the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are handling the monitoring of those workers. He said he hasn’t heard any discussion about quarantine. But if it was up to the county health department, the patients “wouldn’t have been able to move around,” Thompson said.

Dallas hospital learned its Ebola protocols while struggling to save mortally ill patient

DALLAS — The hospital that treated Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan had to learn on the fly how to control the deadly virus, adding new layers of protective gear for workers in what became a losing battle to keep the contagion from spreading, a top official with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.

“They kept adding more protective equipment as the patient [Duncan] deteriorated. They had masks first, then face shields, then the positive-pressure respirator. They added a second pair of gloves,” said Pierre Rollin, a CDC epidemiologist.

I was watching CNN and Anderson Cooper was getting increasingly frustrated that the CDC “did not” have the power to take over the patients care “like they do in the movies.”

The “county judge” administrator should be quarantined after entering the family apartment unprotected.

Hindsight is 20/20. MRSA has requirements in the hospital. Why does not Ebola have a stricter requirements. It makes no sense. The virus Ebola and its other variant Marburg in Africa have a high death rate and the ability to be spread. Does anyone know about the Ebola Virus strain that is also in the Philippines? What are the statistics regarding this strain. Dumb question could the Philippine strain of the virus be developed into a type of shot to make someone not suspectible to a more virulent strain.

Rep. Jeff Sessions told Laura Ingraham tonight that he asked Freiden to impose a ban on flights from West Africa. Frieden said he wrote an article for Financial Times two weeks prior stating it did not make sense.

I’m shocked that “Judge” Clay Jenkins isn’t the county health director too.

Seems I remember seeing ol’ Zach at Duncan’s apartment along with Jenkins. Shouldn’t they both be quarantined?
