A Republican running in a hotly contested race for an open congressional seat now says that Obamacare is here to stay.
David Young, who is running for Iowa's third congressional seat, said at a healthcare forum Monday that the Affordable Care Act is going to be here to stay, according to the Des Moines Register.
The president is not going to allow his keystone legislation to go by the wayside. So we're going to have to work to make it better, he said.
That is a marked change from Youngs previous statements on the law. At a training event for activists in August, he said, We get a Republican majority, lets defund, cut, delay, whatever it takes to get rid of Obamacare.

This isn’t about the merits of changing or ending odumbocare.
This is about the RINO flipflopping candidate showing his cards before the deal is done.
I am used to RINO’s showing their true colors after the election win, but this guy is a true piece of work.
May he lose big time.
If I lived in his district there is no way I would voting for him. Anyone conservative who does so is a disgrace IMHO. Judging from what he stands for he is a full fledged Rino.
Better to keep a democrat on the other side of the line rather than to invite him into the inner circle.
Yes, the lack of a budget is a problem. Very irresponsible of the DEMOCRAT PARTY. IIRC, the House Republicans HAVE PASSED A BUDGET.
From the article I linked:
“Had Young taken the stage at the District nominating convention back in June and said, ‘Hi, Im David Young, and I support raising the minimum wage, means testing social security, a pathway to citizenship, new gas taxes, and oh yeah, we all just need to deal with Obamacare,’ he would have been booed off the stage. Seriously, it would have been a nasty sight.”
Sad to say, once-promising Iowa US Senate candidate Joni Ernst may be following Young down the RINO road.
Someone remind me again why I’m just supposed to mindlessly pull the lever for the GOP in November.
Simply defund it. Congress has the power to make sure not one dime is appropriated for this bondoogle.
I said this early on and was eviscerated for it.
The GOPe is NOT against ODimwit care. They never ever were. They just want your vote. And the base will just line up and do their bidding. It’s sickening.
If I were the majority leader it would be OK if he won. 1st time I met him I would tell him to sit his sorry ass down & do as I say or we will find another candidate in two yrs to then replace him.
“The implications and unintended consequences of doing so would do even more damage.”
You must be related to Pelosi. It’s just too hard. We can’t fix it until we find out what will happen. What a crock.
When you have been bitten by a rabid dog, you don’t learn to live with rabies. There is no cure worse than this disease!
It will continue to destroy the best medical system that the world has ever seen. Kill it, cowards!
What are the polls running in this race?
Another candidate from the Stupid Party.
That particular seat ought to be written off for two years.
It is a tax, which can be repealed by the next legislature seated.
Same thing was said about Prohibition.
Despite the claims of GOP ‘consultants’, that Iowa Congressional District containing Des Moines is actually more conservative than the previous CD containing Des Moines.
A loss now would be certain to yield a better candidate in 2016. However, this seat is very unlikely to be lost in 2014, liberal GOPer or not.
Young came in second to last in a crowded primary. Since no one got the requisite 35% a special convention had to be held. The Romney Republican party poohbahs thought it would be a good idea to nominate Young rather than the conservative who actually got the most votes.
Some chickens come home to roost very quickly.
Then he will need a talking to when he gets to the House. Here is hoping he can be reasoned with.
