(Reuters) - At Fort Campbell in Kentucky, spouses of U.S. soldiers headed to Liberia seem to be lingering just a bit longer than usual after pre-deployment briefings, hungry for information about Ebola.
For these families, the virus is raising a different kind of anxiety than the one they have weathered during 13 years of ground war in Afghanistan and Iraq. They want to know how the military can keep soldiers safe from the epidemic, a new addition to the Army's long list of threats.
"Ebola is a different problem set that the division hasn't (faced) before," said Major General Gary Volesky, who will soon head to Liberia along with soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division.
There are already more than 350 U.S. troops on the ground in West Africa, mostly in Liberia, including a handful from the 101st. That number is set to grow exponentially in the coming weeks as the military races to expand Liberia's infrastructure so it can battle Ebola.

I wasn’t against the military going to Africa under the condition they would have no contact with Ebola or potential Ebola patients, only be used to build the treatment centers.
What the jug eared clown is doing by sending untrained personnel to deal with Ebola patients is in my opinion intended to start a mutiny in the military.
What better way to weed out those not 100% loyal to him.
“101st Airborne??? OK, I can somewhat rationalize sending the SeaBees because there is construction, and perhaps a medical battalion or two because the reported purpose is to train the locals, but the 101st? Shouldnt they be fighting ISIS instead?”
See what happens when you are rational in the real world.
You bring up the point, that I have been musing about since Obozo’s announcement of our military people going into harm’s way in Ebola country.
“Why are we sending our airborne guys, marines and other untrained military personnel re bio hazards like Ebola into the Ebola hell hole of West Africa?
The soldiers at Fort Detrick are well trained re Ebola and other deadly viruses and how to handle them safely.
Are they being sent there to guide our other troops? If not, why?
See the link below that describes the history of Fort Detrick and up to the present. The personnel there probably have more experience re Ebola versus any other group in the world including our worthless CDC.”

Here are many photos of their training
Obama is more than willing to put lives at risk for whom he has no regard.
Of course it is
I question the motivation of the administration in this issue
At least, these guys are used to following protocol "by the numbers"
With 4,000 troops going over to West Africa, undoubtedly there will be instances of exposure to Ebola,
but don't worry as there are 19 CDC isolation beds in the country to handle Ebola. (4,000/ 19 How's that look ?)
The CDC has been repeating the administrations reluctance to eliminate flights to/from Ebola countries so much that you can't tell the difference between the two.
The CDC still hasn't changed their medical equipment or protocols despite two or three contaminations here in this country, and blame 'Human Error' of HCW's .
TO Answer your question:"..bring a deadly disease back to the states where it will infect every facet of American life ..???"
Now , what do you think ??
I bet you the Useless Nation staffers are going to as far as possible from the scene
That arrogant pos has been a disaster ever since he’s been elected
One soldier gets it. The only way it can be transmitted (so the powers that be claim) is close contact, fluids.
And soldiers don’t have close contact, maybe even ‘hot bunking’. / s
What I don’t get is why nit dump the ebola corpses on ISIS?
Easy when the voters are blind and stupid.
Personally I believe were asking for big trouble by sending in thousands of airborne unit combat troops to a country known as Liberia. Which according to some functionary appointed by Obama The Magnificent Incompetent are being sent there to help construct infastructure for a series of Ebola health clinics.
Liberia is a country created by former American slaves whos capital,Monrovia,is named after an American President James Monroe. According to a report I heard from a local conservative talk show host which I could be wrong,(and truly hope so) reported. The city has only 7 or 9 public toilets, and a mere 26 miles of fresh water piping.
Right now the country has just gotten through a bitter civil war and seems to be the current epicenter of the Ebola outbreak that btw started after an infestation of caterpillars. I mention that because Sierra Leone where the epidemic originated from had the same experience.
Here is some of the other krap that is going on there;

While its obvious we gave this effort by former enslaved American citizens to return to the continent they were taken from meger attention and support following its creation than what should been given.
Under present circumstances we should be circumspective of the assistance we offer. Certainly sending combat units not equipted with the knowledge, training, or backgound to do what is needed. Placing them in harms way in an area where the likelyhood of contracting a deadly disease is pre eminent simply because it suits political symbolism is madness.
“Its gonna be hard for the White House to blame Bush for any infections from this expedition.”
It will be no problem for Obozo’s thugs, his knee pad mediots and about 5-10 of the Freepers who hate republicans and Bush more than the real danger, Obozo and his thugs.
We can take some comfort that they are being trained to protect themselves but the 101st is trained to shoot people and break things. What is their mission and what kind of training will they get? I still can’t come to grips with their selection for this.
Oh, wait ... I get it. The zoomies are too afraid to land in the hot zone so they have to send airborne since that’s the only way they can deploy, right? I’m grasping at straws here, trying to avoid the conclusion that we’re simply trying to kill off our elite forces.
Didn't you get the word?
It's the GOP's fault for shutting down the government and stripping it of CDC and Ebola money through sequestration!
Active Duty ping.
Misuse of the military. It's an outrage that they're being deployed on a deadly mission for which they're not trained.
Hmmmm, interesting take
