What the 'gay marriage' debate is really about
WND ^ | Oct. 10, 2014 | Matt Barber

Exclusive: Matt Barber warns, 'The courts are tossing around spiritual nitroglycerin'

It’s called Pandora’s Box.

And the Supreme Court just opened it.

Did you actually think the debate over “gay marriage” was about marriage? Have you really come to believe that this cultural kerfuffle has anything to do with “civil rights” or “equality”? Have you bought into the popular premise that this is a legitimate discussion on federalism – that it’s a reasonable disagreement over whether the U.S. Constitution’s equal protection clause requires that newfangled “gay marriage,” something rooted in same-sex sodomy, a deviant and disease-prone behavior our Constitution’s framers officially declared “the infamous crime against nature,” be made law of the land?

A lot of people have, so don’t feel bad. A lot of reasonable, well-meaning and even, at times, intelligent people have taken the bait.

But that’s all window dressing. It’s superficial. It’s collateral. It’s chaff, a diversion, a squirrel. Don’t chase it.

At its core, this increasingly heated fight over “gay marriage” is about two diametrically opposed and profoundly incompatible views of reality (or lack thereof). It’s the modern manifestation of a millennia-old clash between worldviews. This ugly cultural conflict is, in reality, neither legal nor political in nature, but, rather, is fundamentally a philosophical debate. Ultimately, it derives from, and is illustrative of, deep-seeded spiritual warfare. Quite simply, the clash over “gay marriage” is emblematic of the larger, and much older, clash between good and evil.

And it’s reaching critical mass.

Matt Barber hits this one out of the park, in the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded.

Read the whole article. It's worth it.

2% wanting to exert power over the other 98%

The problem isn’t the 2% or whatever. It’s the large percentage of the people who are the enablers.

As it says in Romans chapter one:

“...who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same BUT ALSO APPROVE OF THOSE WHO PRACTICE THEM.

I agree.

Liberal judges are imposing their views - their philosophy on every one else.

Now the Left has triumphed in the legal wars. But it has not put an end to resistance.

That will continue like with abortion because there are different world views on which there is no common ground.

And we will never concede it to our opponents no matter what laws they rewrite.

It’s actually 1.5% who are homosexual and lesbian.

2% of the population has redefined marriage for the rest of us.

Fake marriage will never be like the real thing. Marriage equality is as fraudulent as a Nigerian scam. Every one knows it.

There is no real substance behind it.

I really like what he wrote and has expressed. I feel the same way. These judges in black robes are doing whatever they want to do to mock God. As I have ben posting, they will never trumpet God. People have to keep their faith and not surrender to this unnatural relationship from the 2-3%. I am glad the author said this straight out. Bravo, I like him now.

From different statistical collections....you can generally say that there are about 70,000 gay marriages in progress right now, and even if you approved it in all fifty states....it might only move up to around 80,000 max. Peak-time? Probably a decent prospective with the numbers out there.

So, all this chatter....over a episode that covers roughly 180,000 Americans out of 300,000,000?

I would suggest the news media peak will start to occur when a parent in New Hampshire approves her 13-year old daughter marrying the fifty-year old lesbian girlfriend. A month later, another parent will sign off on the 14-year old son marrying some gay fifty-five year old guy from New York City. At this point, the reporters will feel uncomfortable and just drop the topic.

“2% of the population has redefined marriage for the rest of us.”

I’d say 2% of the population stands to actively participate in same sex marriage.
But a lot more than 2% of the population support it.
I think a lot of people see it as a civil rights issue and others know someone who is gay and effected by it.

No matter that gays get married, they will never get the moral recognition they crave.

The law cannot make moral or just that which the natural law forbids.

No judge can invalidate true marriage. Which shows how facetious the courts’ embrace of same sex “marriage” really is in practice.

You cannot make equal before the law what the law rightly denied all along. The judges are playing with spiritual TNT here and have only incurred my contempt.

How are they oppressed and why is it their business to force us to agree to their perverted view of marriage?

Civil rights, my tuchis.

If empowered to change the meaning of words then all arguments are won by those who change the meanings.

Marriage has always been and always will be man & woman, no matter what a lawyer in a magic robe says.

You’re asking the wrong monkey.
I just told you why I think it has more support than the 2% of the population who are effected by it.

I do think that after a few thousand marriages are performed in a lot of different states it will never be repealed.
I wrote on another thread that this was legally a nifty way to get the same sex marriage issue off the table for both parties before the midterms.

And the 2 per cent win. I don’t get it either.

It started with Madilyn Murray O’Hare and has grown.

1.5% of Britons say they are gay or bisexual, ONS survey finds
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/sep/23/gay-bisexual-population-uk

First Things: The Journal of Religion, Culture and Public Life gives the following homosexuality statistics in respect to the percentage of homosexuals in the United States:

“The number of homosexuals in society is uncertain. Popular estimates vary between 5 percent and 10 percent. The 10 percent claim goes back to Alfred Kinsey’s 1948 book Sexual Behavior in the Human Male, in which it is stated that “10 percent of the males are more or less exclusively homosexual for at least three years between the ages of 16 and 55.” On the same page, however, Kinsey states that “4 percent of the white males are exclusively homosexual throughout their lives after adolescence.” For political reasons, gay rights activists prefer to quote the 10 percent over the 4 percent statistic. Since the publication of Kinsey’s work, the accuracy of his survey has been questioned by many researchers. A more recent 1990 survey of more than 10,000 persons by the National Center for Health Statistics indicates that homosexuals and bisexuals combined amount to approximately 1.5 percent of the population.[26]

Of course, the homosexuals are flaming mad about this low number.

Legally, its a dead issue.

But morally, enough people will never come to terms with it.

The Left has not succeeded in settling abortion even after nearly 40 years since the Supreme Court imposed it upon the country.

What makes them think same sex marriage is going to be any easier to lay to rest?

Judicial activism in both cases opened the same Pandora’s Box and in both cases, it wasn’t done by a vote of the people but through judicial fiat.

Legally, the Left got its way - but it never has been able to persuade much of the public that abortion is a moral good. I predict the same thing will happen with same sex marriage in the future.

No such thing as a dead issue

Even Supreme Court rulings don’t stop the left.

Polygamy is the next big thing. And then pedophilia and necrophilia and zoophilia.

Why shouldn’t people be allow to marry who they love? And oh add incest into the mix - after all, who is more dear than family?

Its a slippery slope.
