Legally, its a dead issue.
But morally, enough people will never come to terms with it.
The Left has not succeeded in settling abortion even after nearly 40 years since the Supreme Court imposed it upon the country.
What makes them think same sex marriage is going to be any easier to lay to rest?
Judicial activism in both cases opened the same Pandora’s Box and in both cases, it wasn’t done by a vote of the people but through judicial fiat.
Legally, the Left got its way - but it never has been able to persuade much of the public that abortion is a moral good. I predict the same thing will happen with same sex marriage in the future.
No such thing as a dead issue
Even Supreme Court rulings don’t stop the left.
“Legally, its a dead issue.
But morally, enough people will never come to terms with it.
The Left has not succeeded in settling abortion even after nearly 40 years since the Supreme Court imposed it upon the country.”
That may be.
As for the abortion issue. I don’t expect that will ever be repealed either.
I do believe that over time same sex marriage will be less of an issue to younger generations. In fact I don’t think a majority of people under 40 are opposed to it now or it wouldn’t be legal.
The wheel has turned and I don’t expect it’s going to turn back.
Same sex marriage, abortion, legalized pot, issues that were hot button topics just 20 years ago don’t seem to be issues for younger people.
Morals have to be grounded in something. There are enough people now that don’t believe in anything which allows gays to push the debate in their favor. Quoting Bible verses just turns these people off.
Logically outlining why a society is better off respecting traditional marriage is necessary. The benefits of a virtuous life should be stressed, not just the fire and brimstone.
