Great candidates like Thad Cochran....

I do hope you accidentally omitted the sarc tag. To call this low-life p.o.s. a “great” candidate...... Oh hell, don’t get me started.

The GOP won in 2004 because of volunteers. I was one of them. I believed Bush was doing the right thing.

The GOP sucked in 2008.

The GOP got better in 2012, but they really need to crank up their game.

Unlike many here, I haven’t given up on them. Redemption is still possible.

It helps tremendously when you have an army of PAID union workers to help get out the vote on election day, whereas the GOP has to rely primarily on volunteers to help with its GOTV efforts.

Well, maybe the GOP Establishment's Chamber of Commerce buddies should get off their a**es and go door to door for their RINO candidates because they certainly are not generating any excitement for anyone else to wear out shoe leather for them.

I sincerely believe that the GOPe does not want to win control of the Senate.

Republicans have the tendency to shoot themselves in the foot while trying to get the gun out of the holster.

.

President George W. Bush was re-elected in ’04 with a vote total 22 percent larger than in 2000, in part because the GOP harnessed the power of volunteers to get out the vote block by block in key states.

I disagree with the writer's premise, "completely".

The modern slick political-consultancy-class (Karl Rove, ad nauseum) believe that Twitter Hash Tags win elections in 2014.

They are complete idiots.

What's "always" won elections ... at EVERY level ... city, state and federal.

Residential neighborhood yard signs.

Residential neighborhood "conversations" up and down the street, block by block.

Neighbor to neighbor.

The GOP-E stopped seeing that kind of "citizen grass roots" enthusiasm when they first nominated Juan McCain in 2008 ...

because it was "his turn" ...

and then with Mitt "Willard" Romney in 2012.

I have personally campaigned, walked neighborhoods, distributed yard signs, worked phone banks since 1992 (Bush vs. Clinton).

NOT with Romney, especially after what he (and Da' Bushes) did to Newt Gingrich.

Things will stay that way, too ... for a MAJORITY of "former" GOP political foot-soldier infantry ...

until John Boehner, Mitch "I'll destroy the Tea Party" McConnell, Thad Cochran, and Karl Rove ...

are LONG GONE.

Democrats will probably retain control of the sENATE.
1. Repubs are stupider than Charlie Brown and the football.
2. Single fornicating women who want free birth control, welfare queens, Too big to fail statist monopolies, hispanics, blacks, asians, undocumented democrats, etc wil vote 90% for a handout.
3. Union workers and thugs will vote to keep their inflated paychecks rather than save America.
4. Leftist, homos, new age techies, millenialists, will all vote Demo because it makes them feel good.
5. Yankees and intellectually burned-out northern and western libtards will reflexily vote democrat.

6. The only ones left to vote conservative are the 30-40% or hard working Americans that pay the freight for the rest of the freeloaders!

Doubt that the blacks and Hispanics will be going to the polls in droves as they did for Obama, to support white RATS who seem to have abandoned Obama.

Why Democrats may keep the Senate

Because it is not for nothing that the GOP is called "The Stupid Party".

Why Democrats may keep the Senate

Because the Republican Party is, as a party, feckless.

Feckless
(adjective)
  1. ineffective; incompetent; futile: feckless attempts to repair the plumbing.
  2. having no sense of responsibility; indifferent; lazy.

What do the Republicans stand for? Does anyone have any idea?

The Republicans stand for nothing.
As an example, consider all the things that they let slide: NSA espionage, IRS targeting, endless national debt, proping up the failed War on Drugs, all manner of contraconstitutional policies (to include ObamaCare), and so on.

No, they really didn't.
The shenanigans they pulled to get Romney, to include retroactive rule-changes to the primaries alone proved that.
(And then there's their non-response on Fast & Furious, ObamaCare, spending, corruption, etc to consider.)
