For McConnell, it’s now or never (leadership challenge?)
thehill.com ^ | 10/8/14 | Alexander Bolton

If Republicans fall short of expectations this fall, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) could face a leadership challenge.

Republican senators say there is much riding on the Nov. 4 elections for McConnell, who is gunning to become majority leader while also attempting to defeat a well-funded Democratic opponent.

“If we don’t win the majority then all bets are off,” one GOP senator told The Hill when asked whether McConnell could face a leadership race if Republicans remained in the minority in 2015. The senator, who requested anonymity, said some members of the Senate Republican Conference would call for a re-evaluation of McConnell’s tactics, which the lawmaker described as maintaining total party unity in opposition to the Democratic agenda.

The senator acknowledged that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is difficult to work with because he has severely limited the ability of Republicans to offer amendments.

“There’s no question Harry Reid is very tough to deal with, but some of us wonder whether we should have tried to go around him to work with other Democrats,” the senator said.

Conservative critics, on the other hand, argue that McConnell has been too accommodating and has not been fierce enough in waging the battle to repeal ObamaCare or slash federal spending.

Sen. Ted Cruz, a Tea Party favorite, has been at odds with McConnell on a number of issues. The Texas Republican declined to say in an ABC News interview last month whether he would even vote for McConnell as majority leader if Republicans pick up six seats or more.

Dampen? try awaken...

If you are not ready to earn your wings thats fine..I respect your inabilities but least try to recognize that the goose is cooked.

There is nothing and I do mean nothing we can do to challenge even the DC disease of our own party. IF you want to support that charade...go right ahead but leave the sanctimony to those better suited to practice it.

As for me I will not be we.

“The only thing the GOPe is going to listen to is the sound of millions of FORMER GOP voters walking away”

They already did during the McRomney race. He lost because so many conservatives stayed home. What exactly did they learn from it?

If you expect the GOP establishment to learn anything sensible, you are probably wasting your time.

They use us ...

AND

... we use them.

It’s a two way street UNTIL the next primary.

Why would you want a leader who claims he finds his opponent hard to deal with, especially when their agenda is much the same, the only real difference is Reid wants communism instituted as fast as possible and McConnell wants it just a bit slower, you know; make it more palatable, reduce resistance.

Can it really be said one is worse than the other, majority, minority leader they are both dictators, Reid of course is more successful as a dictator, because McConnell finds conservatives particularly hard to deal with, they just don’t want to march in lockstep, even though McConnell continually punishes them.

A true leader is one who knows how to gain the respect, confidence and loyalty of those who he would have follow.

“...least try to recognize that the goose is cooked.”

It also looked pretty bad politically right after Nixon resigned and Ford was president. And just imagine how starved people were for the truth back then before the internet and talk-radio. But now there’s one big difference:

We weren’t on the verge of a massive Ebola outbreak [a crisis President Ebola could really exploit] or a flood of immigrant voters.

If we lose, it’s for keeps. If we win, who knows?

Not nearly as dangerous to the Republic as is an entrenched establishment RINO that hates the Tea Party and everything it stands for. I don’t like Grimes any more than I do the imposter in the White Hut, just hope she takes out the trash.

No to compare the state of affairs in this country now to Nixon era is intellectually dishonest.

Rise my friend....smell the air. It’s not America you are smelling.

And the stench is just not from the Left side of the Aisle.

I guess we argue in hopes of influencing those that remain teetering on this issue but i assure you...whether its this cycle or the next you and your ilk will soon become very lonely.

The thing that concerns me is that if we don’t come off strong, then the GOP will most certainly cave on immigration. Illegal immigrants’ right to vote — checkmate.

Who you kidding? With either Bitchy Mitchy or John Cornyn as Majority Leader, Scamnasty will be passed. They think they will win over the Mexicans. Charlie Brown/lucy/football... They will tell us that there is a penalty in the way of a fine (which they know will get tossed out by the Courts). The RINOS are bought and paid for by the AgriCorps. and Chamber of Commies.

What the polls are not showing is the literally thousands of Republicans who refuse to stay on the plantation this year and will NOT vote for guys like McConnell, Roberts and Cochran. I'd say, subtract 5% from each of their poll numbers, at any one time, and that will be the votes they will actually get on Election Day. Some, will not just sit this one out, some will actually vote for the Dem opponents. So, add 1% to the Dems' poll numbers and now you have the numbers that will be on Election Night Coverage. The lava-heat hatred for RINOs is flying very stealth under the radar.

NEVER FORGET MISSISSIPPI! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!

Looking further back in history, imagine how hard it was for conservatives when FDR kept getting reelected and blaming the economy on Hoover’s ‘inaction’ as well as Harding’s ‘irresponsibility’ during the Roaring 20s.

But the GOP managed to amend the Constitution. Term limits for the President. And then we got Ike elected. And later even a democrat — JFK — cut taxes. We were riding high for a while there until disinformation media ground us down.

It’s hard to predict the GOP’s distant future.

McConnell, Rove, boo hoo alcohol impaired Boehner and others are equal with pond scum in my book.

Can we NOT give up the war without going to battle here. Please can we swamp the GOP offices with phone calls to say this is unacceptable what these scum are doing to our party.

YES, just keep the pressure up on these guys. Don’t give up. And IMHO, don’t vote Dem. This is all frustrating but this is unacceptable behavior by the GOPe. I’ve made many phone calls and we need to keep up the fight.

It’s why Murrow and Cronkite are saints to the left. They were the ones that cemented the state-run media complex.

When children lose primaries they pick up their toys and go home. Grownups learn how to do better in the next primary.

Wise people stop playing the game that is rigged by fraud and corruption. Insane people do the same thing over and over and expect different results...

McConnell and leadership should never appear in the same paragraph let alone the same sentence.

"Follow me!!!"

“Who you kidding? With either Bitchy Mitchy or John Cornyn as Majority Leader, Scamnasty will be passed.”

A leader still only has how many votes?

One.

They couldn’t strip off enough votes.

I wouldn’t shed many tears over McConnell if we still win the senate. Just not willing to take that risk.

Equate me with a cheerleader if you like. I’m more of a history enthusiast.

Can you promise me a majority in the senate without Mc?

So when a referee is corrupt, the players should do what? End their careers?

First of all, DoodleDawg, great post. Secondly..... Don't expect the RINO supporters on here to give you an intelligent answer to your question. They will just resort to calling you a "troll", a "fascist", a "liberal Democrat" and some vulgar names as well. But, they will never give you an answer because they don't want to tell the truth because the truth would sound something like this:

"I'm sorry, but I just don't have the ba**s to stand up to the guys who have been raping, and politically sodomizing" me, and my Conservative family, for the past decade. I just want to go ahead and vote for them and hope they will be my friend and maybe some day not rape me anymore."
