For McConnell, it’s now or never (leadership challenge?)

If Republicans fall short of expectations this fall, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) could face a leadership challenge.

Republican senators say there is much riding on the Nov. 4 elections for McConnell, who is gunning to become majority leader while also attempting to defeat a well-funded Democratic opponent.

“If we don’t win the majority then all bets are off,” one GOP senator told The Hill when asked whether McConnell could face a leadership race if Republicans remained in the minority in 2015. The senator, who requested anonymity, said some members of the Senate Republican Conference would call for a re-evaluation of McConnell’s tactics, which the lawmaker described as maintaining total party unity in opposition to the Democratic agenda.

The senator acknowledged that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is difficult to work with because he has severely limited the ability of Republicans to offer amendments.

“There’s no question Harry Reid is very tough to deal with, but some of us wonder whether we should have tried to go around him to work with other Democrats,” the senator said.

Conservative critics, on the other hand, argue that McConnell has been too accommodating and has not been fierce enough in waging the battle to repeal ObamaCare or slash federal spending.

Sen. Ted Cruz, a Tea Party favorite, has been at odds with McConnell on a number of issues. The Texas Republican declined to say in an ABC News interview last month whether he would even vote for McConnell as majority leader if Republicans pick up six seats or more.

McConnell has been a piss-poor minority leader! He should be challenged one way or the other.

He should be, but he won't. Not seriously. He has at least 35 votes that I can think of locked up, probably closer to 40. Given that most of the rest will fall in line for fear of retalliation.

Long term strategy is worthless if you are in danger of losing the war.

uh no...and u can take your attitude and shove ...oh wait you have no intestinal track so most likely you have no arse.

IF you can not recognize the cause and effect that is not my issue it is yours and quite frankly by lacking that ability you should probably hang up your voting card.

You’re correct. His goal this year was not only to thwart conservatives, but also to secure his own position by keeping those against him out of the senate. He’s an insidious snake and an oligarch.

Look at the primaries in Mississippi where the establishment used their influence over the courts and the party to ensure Cochran was the candidate. Look at Kansas and Kentucky and other states where the GOPe defeated the Tea Party candidate or other conservative opponents by setting out to destroy their professional reputations. Look at South Carolina and Tennessee and other states where the establishment incumbent has mocked and belittled the Tea Party and their ideals. Look at all that and then let me ask you this; what lesson is the GOPe supposed to take away from this election? If they can pull every string and use every dirty trick in the book and treat the Tea Party and the conservative wing of the party with complete contempt just so they can hold on to their seats, and still have people like you saying we still need to vote for them blindly and unquestioningly because two years of Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader is better than two years of Harry Reid then what hope to we have of ever changing anything? What chance is there of ever having a Republican Party where men like Ted Cruz are the norm with in the party and not the pariah? What reason is there for the Tea Party or any other Conservative movement within the party to exist at all? If at the end of the day the establishment can brush any dissent conpemptuously aside and not pay a price for it then what is the purpose of trying to change anything? Can you answer that for me please?

“psssst McArthur, we already lost the war.”

I thought we did back in 2008, but I kept it to myself. Why? Because there was no point in discouraging others.

If Obama had prioritized immigration before Obama-care, he had the political capital back then and the votes to ram it through. But he blundered. Spent his capital. And the Tea Party took off.

Yes, the Tea Party has been ravaged by the IRS. But now conservatives can fight smarter, making themselves more difficult targets. Will we lose? Maybe. But some of us still have plans, and not all of us are sharing them publicly.

Can you even imagine how many alliances Christians have had to make with pagans throughout history? Even Reagan had to ally with evil warlords in order to defeat the Soviets. The Repbulican Establishment is off-the-mark — absolutlely. But this is no different than what EVERY Christian generation had to endure. And the good news is that the more patriots help the GOP [after the primaries], the better we will do in future primaries. Until there’s an abrupt sea change by multiple key conservative popular leaders, the GOP is “it”.

Primary time was and will be the best time to nail an establishment near-RINO.

So, we lost the battle, give up the war? I think not! Down with the RINO's. McConnell MUST GO at all costs. He states and believes he is at war with the Tea Party? Sobeit. GO GRIMES!

Grimes? You bean the *itch who told the feminazis that she was only kidding when she told the rubes back home that she was against the practice of cracking a near-full term babies’s head open and sucking it’s brains out? That Grimes?

She should go somewhere all right, hell.

Do many people ever wonder how many Christians had to fight under the banners of pagan Romans? Paul instructed them to do their very best when serving their pagan officers. In the end, Rome turned Christian. At least now we are still [for the time being] Christian dominant.

AMEN! The only thing the GOPe is going to listen to is the sound of millions of FORMER GOP voters walking away, and taking their campaign donations with them. Until folks realize it is their patriotic duty to walk away from the GOP, we’ll continue to have the same argument.

You already said we lost, why are you trying to dampen other peoples’ resolve? What’s the point? People who think its hopeless need to get out of the way because you never know, something good might happen.

Dawg wrote about many examples of dirty politics in primaries. Did I say it would be easy? We must learn, we must explain to others, we must expose false media outlets, and most of all, we need to keep the uninformed voters laughing or they won’t even listen to us. Most people are uniformed.

You said we lost already. What else is there but to sleep then? Go ahead, take a nap. Why bother arguing with me?
