New Crossroads Ad Uses Hagan’s Own Words Against Her
Rollcall ^ | October 7, 2014

Crossroads GPS will air a new ad Wednesday, turning an attack Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., used in her 2008 election campaign against her.

The ad, provided first to CQ Roll Call, uses footage of Hagan attacking now-former Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C.

“Voting 92 percent of the time with the president, whether you support him or not, doesn’t work here in North Carolina,” Hagan says in the old footage.

“So Sen. Hagan, why do you vote with Obama 95 percent of the time?” asks a male narrator.

Indeed. Neither does using the privileges of your office to enrich your family bank account go over very well with the good folk of North Carolina. But, Hagan doesn't think that any of those rules apply to her. She's special and much smarter than any of her constituents.

First quote was good. The last quote from Hagan really didn’t do too much to move the voter IMO. It looked to me like filler because they needed something to fill up the 30 seconds.

This sort of lying worked about 100 years ago when there weren't any recorders or videos or YouTubes to put them on. It was a plausible trick then. Not so much now except with the galactically stupid LIV's.

Sweet Haysoos! Its a fu**ing month before the election and these are the first attack ads run by the squishy, wimpy, Tillis this late in the election?

I guess better late than never. If they keep tying Kagan to Obama and their failed polices, expect Tillis to make a comeback. At this point, its late in the game and he has run and incompetent RINO campaign.

You have to remember, the dems have a substantial (something like 2 or 3 times) cash advantage.

I’m supposing “campaign finance” won’t be an issue with the dems this year in N.C.

I’m sure American Crossroads is a Carl Rove organization.

Think about it
These ads, and most of the political ads must target the low information voter. Things that seem so logical to us, are a non sequitur to the other side. And the appeal to touchy-feely which the other side is likely to promote is meaningless to us. This is a single targeted soundbite to those in the middle who, unlike the skunk in the middle of the road has not been run over. I am glad to see that Tillis is waking up. He can win this. If you look at the internals of the polls for the North Carolina Senate race the margin is slightly less than the Dem over sample by about 2%. In reality Tillis has the advantage in that the polls show the incumbent Hagan in the mid 40's, and several undecided points. If Tillis keeps a steady pace he might win by 4-5%. There is a gnarly Libertarian here so, look for the final to be 50-45-5 with Tillis winning.

I firmly believe that a majority of liberal/socialist/democrats can be brought down by their own words. Problem is that I have yet to see Republican election campaign committees use these clips and/or soundbites throughout their campaigns. Geez, the liberals are a gold mine of stupid statements (Astronauts on Mars, 57 States, Obamacare is great for the Americans, etc). Find a dozen or so statements, both audio and visual, and plaster the airwaves with them. If you strike first, hard, and fast you'll put your opponent off their message and they'll spend more time defending themselves than putting out a/an (seemingly) original message.

You would be better than some of the employed inept consultants on these campaigns.

Here in Florida, the Rick Scott (R, Incumb) Vs Charlie Crist (D) is getting down right funny. Charlie Crist was the Republican governor from 2007-2011. He decided to try for the US senate (Florida has term limits for the governorship) as a Republican but lost in the primaries to Marco Rubio. So he tried to run for the US Senate as an independent.... and lost. Now he's trying to run for the Florida governorship as a democrat. Charlie Crist has as many gaffs as Biden, and Rick Scott's campaign is making full use of them.
