These ads, and most of the political ads must target the low information voter. Things that seem so logical to us, are a non sequitur to the other side. And the appeal to touchy-feely which the other side is likely to promote is meaningless to us. This is a single targeted soundbite to those in the middle who, unlike the skunk in the middle of the road has not been run over. I am glad to see that Tillis is waking up. He can win this. If you look at the internals of the polls for the North Carolina Senate race the margin is slightly less than the Dem over sample by about 2%. In reality Tillis has the advantage in that the polls show the incumbent Hagan in the mid 40's, and several undecided points. If Tillis keeps a steady pace he might win by 4-5%. There is a gnarly Libertarian here so, look for the final to be 50-45-5 with Tillis winning.

I firmly believe that a majority of liberal/socialist/democrats can be brought down by their own words. Problem is that I have yet to see Republican election campaign committees use these clips and/or soundbites throughout their campaigns. Geez, the liberals are a gold mine of stupid statements (Astronauts on Mars, 57 States, Obamacare is great for the Americans, etc). Find a dozen or so statements, both audio and visual, and plaster the airwaves with them. If you strike first, hard, and fast you'll put your opponent off their message and they'll spend more time defending themselves than putting out a/an (seemingly) original message.
