Megyn Kelly discusses the Ebola risk to the United States and the reasons why the bureaucracy and the “President” aren’t doing more to protect the citizens.

He says that right now, at the time of the interview, “Over the Atlantic, a fully loaded Delta 767, flight 479 is coming from Liberia to land at JFK tomorrow morning.” He points out that it’s been happening every day for a month while this crisis has melted down and they haven’t done a single thing about it.

For anyone who believes this, who do you think fought the Revolutionary War?

People who immigrated before the revolution and their descendants. Whether they immigrated before or after 1776 they still immigrated here.

We are not a nation of immigrants, Hugin. The nation did not exist when the forebears of many came here. The ancestors of some had been on this continent for 150 years or more at the dawn of the Revolution. Some, in the instance of indians, had been here for thousands of years.

So, to say that "we are a nation of immigrants" is incorrect. That phrase is used to excuse all manner of abuse in allowing outsiders access to and all the benefits of residing in this nation and becoming citizens. Extending citizenship should be selective. We should be encouraging and permitting people to become citizens who are a net gain for the nation rather than a detriment.

The only exception I would grant, would be the genuinely persecuted, and refugees. Refugees would be provided a safe haven until their safe return could be accomplished.

You can immigrate somewhere even if there is no government. I could emigrate to Somalia if I chose to. The nation was founded by immigrants and their descendants. Even the ancestors of American Indians immigrated here at some point. You are splitting hairs that are ultimately meaningless.

No, not quite meaningless. Hold onto your wallet, whenever you hear that old saw, “we’re a nation of immigrants.”

We are not a nation of immigrants, as I’ve repeatedly stated before. We’ve graciously permitted very generous immigration that has on occasion been to the detriment of the nation. It is not a sentiment that is always positive, maudlin sentimentality of recent immigrants and their descendants aside.
