Scouter's Ebola Projection Update - 10/4/2014 - (Vanity)
To: Vendome; scouter My wife just flew into Newark from Brussels. Been waiting on the plane for 1 1/2 hours now to deplane. Medical emergency onboard with a passenger vomiting.
They have to wait for the CDC to come interview the person before they can leave.
Consider travel plans carefully.

So happy that your wife is home safe and sound. What an ordeal for her -- and for you. Praying hard that she and other passengers were not exposed to Ebola.
The "planeload of Liberians, many unaccompanied minors," deserves a thread of it's own
This is terrifying.
thanks :)
It was just the pinched nerve I originally complained about
however, I did get a better examination than any TSA would have...
I agree. Please do so!
They keep telling us that they know how to handle it. They talk about quarantine, isolation, contact tracing, and personal protection, but yet allow people to stream out and into the USA. And a CNA who was in contact is free to work in a nursing home, but his family has to be quarantined. So he's would be allowed to come and go daily.
That doesn't seem like isolation or quarantine to me. Additionally, the screening measures are not particularly comforting. A questionnaire, and temperature, both of which can be easily circumvented by lying and taking Tylenol.
Plus the test for Ebola is not always accurate initially. I have read several articles where people in the region tested negative, were released and sent home, and a few days later were back in worse condition and testing positive.
Dr. Brantly’s first test was negative, but they continued to quarantine him and his 72 hr test came back positive. So when I hear these reports in the news, immediately stating it is not Ebola, and releasing people, it makes me more even more nervous.
I would feel better, if they said something like it doesn't appear to be Ebola, but we are taking precautions, and will be performing further tests. But that's just me. Others may not feel the same way.
he’s = he
It obviously takes some time for the virus to be detected. I don’t know how much and I don’t think they do..so they use different levels of concern to create different levels of observation to full quarantine.
But that’s for a potential contact.
As for incoming people from the affected area..You just don’t know...and yes people lie every day.
That is why we created Ellis island..
My grandparents came through there...They never talked about it...not once..
It was a sarcastic remark. Seriously, I guess I have to put a sarcasm tag on absolutely everything. So many other FReepers understood my intent, but not others.
We need to go back to having an “Ellis Island”. JMHO
Prayers UP! Keep us posted!
She also got an email from cdc very soon the day after stating "all is well, remain calm"
Bottom line, this was handled like crap. IMO
Thank you all again for your kind thoughts !
Thanks for posting an update. I sure hope all these reports that it is NOT Ebola turn out to be accurate, and that whatever it is, no one else gets it. Prayers for you and yours and all involved.
Just, wow. But not that we expected much more from how they’ve been handling things. You and she will remain in our thoughts.
Thanks for the update. Here’s hoping you have a rather uneventful next 3 weeks.
Glad to hear your wife is doing OK.
More prayers will be said for you, your Wife and Family.
Since I got here late, I can say praise God that she is ok....and I DO pray that she stays that way.
Also praying for America which is being assaulted on all fronts.
bump to the top
This kind of disease can kill pilots too...
There is no government, only political-hack control freaks (bureaucRATs)
