DALLAS DA CONSIDERS CHARGES AGAINST FOREIGN EBOLA PATIENT
CBSDFW ^ | October 3, 2014 | L.P. PHILLIPS

Dallas County DA Craig Watkins office is looking into the possibility of filing charges against the Liberian man that brought the first case of Ebola into the United States. Authorities in both the U.S. and Liberia are investigating whether Thomas Eric Duncan knew he had been exposed to the Ebola virus before traveling to Dallas. If that’s the case then District Attorney Craig Watkins says the state crime of aggravated assault may come into play for exposing others to the Ebola virus. “We’re dealing with the issue that he may have knowingly exposed individuals in Dallas County to the ebola virus” said Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins. “We’ve prosecuted individuals, for knowingly exposing individuals to HIV – which is aggravated assault.”

As he should. I’ve been out of the country enough to respect not doing garbage to it. What a dumb a— this Thomas Duncan has been. Selfish so and so.

Other than your own high-minded opinion of yourself, how can you be positive you would not do something similar to avoid certain death and give yourself a chance at life?

The racism was when do-gooder caregivers went to Africa to help, but assumed that Africans couldn't be trained to help themselves deal with the epidemic. Now the US military has to go in because there's no one left to care for them, and they've been enabled to not care for themselves.

Mygosh, I know I'm in the objectionable very small minority who looks at the dogooders and enablers as the real racists. So now were going to move the problem here, where there are people who know how to fight disease? It's warped thinking, for sure.

Breaking a quarantine in Texas is a felony of the third degree.

Question:
Are those who approach a person under quarantine with inadequate hygiene and PPE control, violating the quarantine?

One of my thoughts this morning after hearing about the isolation of symptomatic persons in Honolulu and in Boston, was that we’ve been bracketed and THEY have already crossed the Coordination Line.

You mean like that moronic liberal (yes, I know that's redundant) judge who walked into the apartment where the ebola victim had been staying, with absolutely no protection whatsoever?

From this article:

“...Cleanup crews discovered today that Duncan slept on every mattress in the apartment, said Syed. They previously thought he only slept on one. .....”

I believe it was a deliberate act, from the time he got on the plane to this

It would make much more sense to ban travelers from affected countries (including US citizens), secure borders, and stop the flow of refugees into the US.

Securing the US borders would mean the end of the Obama Open Borders Initiative, so it won't happen.

The worst thing I can say about Mr. Duncan is that he didn't want to die -- which he had about a 99% chance of doing if he had stayed in Liberia. The best thing I can say about Obama -- I don't dare say. The first very very very basic infectious disease control step would be to STOP ISSUING VISAS to travelers from the affected regions!

Good grief, the d***wads who run our gov't are STILL INVITING EBOLA VICTIMS TO COME HERE!

So, welcome Ebola Pandemic 2015!

If I had Ebola and I was someplace else I’d come here, charges or no.

Well, good luck prosecuting a dead man, which the guy will likely be soon.

By causing other innocents to die? I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I did such a thing. I would never jeopardize lives because I wanted into a nation for treatment and to h*ll with everyone else.

I suspect his family is prepping a lawsuit against the Presbyterian Hospital. Lots of talk about “not connecting the dots” the first time he went to the ER.

Perhaps what you say is true - I certainly hope I would act similarly. My point is that we often surprise ourselves on both sides of the equation when it hits the nitty-gritty - until you have the opportunity to have to make that decision, you do not know for sure. Perhaps you might rationalize, especially after the way our CDC and government has been downplaying the deal, that the risk to others was minimal and that they could also be successfully treated.

I commented on an earlier thread that I see no difference between someone with HIV knowing spreading the virus and this man. It is immoral and quite frankly, evil. None of the crap coming out of the media about this invader is consistent. I would not be surprised if this guy turns out to be the equivalent of a suicide bomber except with a deadly virus.

What does his passport show? When was his ticket purchased? I am not going to criticize the DA because he is not the problem. He has a job to enforce the law which is more than US Customs, TSA, DHS, and the CDC are doing.

Our government is an abysmal failure.

Sick

Well, valuing morality, virtue, the rule of law, and that Judeochristian thingy and Jesus’ own words, love thy neighbor and even thine enemy, I kind of think I wouldn’t try to come here

But two questions remain... Why was he carrying dead Ebola victims around. This is a selfish idiot. What’s he doing helping people and risking his life two weeks ago and spreading the virus’s in a major American capital two weeks later? And in the most politically contentious state tx.

And... Would you sneeze and vomit all aver everyone along the way and then sleep on every mattress in the destination house? Wha?

Begs another q... You’d go to the hospital one week claiming to have a flu and go home to go back days later?

Would you break quarantine?

I’m not directing these q s at you, they’re rhetorical.
