(CNN) -- Three Americans are fighting alongside Kurdish forces against the Islamic State terror group in northern Syria, a spokesman for the Kurdish group told CNN on Thursday.
One of the Americans was identified by the Kurdish People's Protection Units, also known as the YPG, as Jordan Matson of Wisconsin.
Matson is fighting in Haska province near the town of Jazaa, close to the Iraqi border, YPG spokesman Redur Xelil said by telephone.

I could see some ex GIs going over to help the Kurds. That would not surprise me.
Knowing this, CNN decides it's a craker barrel idea to identify a man that is aiding the Kurds against ISIS.

Whoever came up with the decision to do this, should be fired. If something happens to this guy's family, perhaps they should be taken out and shot.
It wouldn’t surprise me either. In fact I would be supportive of it.
You’re right. The West is stuck on stupid.
I wonder if there’s any legal remedy for this kind of thing: reckless endangerment or some such. CNN needs to learn a lesson.
way to go for connecting the dots...
i was wondering why the media was posting info like this as if praising the said member for helping. now i know.
the media never fails to have their ulterior motive
You're 'cool' if you're anti-American these days.
Thank the lefties for that.
Be prepared for obozo and holder to bring some charges against the men - they’ll come up with something off the wall. They never fail to disappoint or surprise!!
No kidding! And CNN made sure it was right out front rather than develop the story itself. At any rate, I’m glad someone is taking the fight to the enemy.
I wonder what private army is hiring U.S. soldiers to fight with the Kurds? And why they targeted someone who had only been in the U.S. Army for 1 1/2 years? And what caused Matson's premature departure from his Army service?
As others have already said, CNN and Reuters could only have one purpose in mind by exposing this guy's name and home town. They should be prosecuted.
The C.I.A.rmy!!!!
The Kurds, like the Israelis, also have women fighting alongside the men against ISIS.
Thanks for the note of agreement. I agree with you too. Good for these guys.
Just to throw a wild dart at your question-—who? There are many private industrial interests in NIraq and Kurdland. The Chicoms have oil interests there but wouldn’t dare send in Chinese Nationals to protect their stuff. As with Blackwater, those kinds or groups are alive and well all over Asia Minor.
The State Department, always on the ball, says that it heard of stories of Americans fighting with the Peshmerga.
The State Department also said that they heard stories that the Japanese Fleet was heading towards Pearl Harbor.
.
- Obama wants the muzzie terrorists (”my people”) to be give a “fair chance” and not be bulldozed and crushed by America . . .
What a mess the Middle East has become. Wow.
Now if the Kurds just had a few nice cargo containers full of American ordnance and supplies shipped directly to them on a regular basis, we might actually see the backs of DAESH (ISIS) in Kurdistan.
That would do it for me. Have gun, will travel. This is the fight of our generation. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?
