White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters today that, after the Ebola case in Dallas, the Obama administration reminded border law enforcment agencies of "protocol" to deal with people that appear to have symptoms of Ebola. Earnest also said that there "are screening procedures in place at our border." ebola
"[I]n light of this incident," Earnest said at his daily briefing, "the administration has taken the step of recirculating our guidance to law enforcement agencies that are responsible for securing the border, to those agencies that represent individuals who staff the airline industry, and to medical professionals all across the country to make sure that people are aware that there is an important protocol that should be implemented if an individual presents with symptoms that are consistent with Ebola."
The statement came up in addressing the Dallas case, as the person infected there reportedly had been traveling in Africa.

That got me too. So we allegedly screen for Ebola at border crossings, but what about the steady number of illegal aliens who sneak across the border? Since we don’t have secure borders, assurances that we have controls in place at border crossing stations are meaningless.
Not to mention lack of controls at international airports. This guy from Liberia apparently breezed through immigration and customs at Dulles.
Any “journalists” care to challenge him?
The screen they are using is 20 feet wide, 20 feet high, and divided into 4 sections that are 10’ x 10’...if they can pass through it, they are home free (except to the American taxpayers).

Do you kiddies know one of the many reasons why immigrants were so reviled / feared near the turn of the century in the great migration from Europe and why they were quarantined at Ellis Island and other points of entry? Disease. Disease people living here did not have and disease people living here had little or no resistance to.

So are border officials going to hold illegal immigrants for a possibly lengthy incubating period to make sure that they don’t have ebola before entering the USA? Alternatively, I suppose that taxpayers can pay for medical testing to make sure that possible victims don’t have ebola.
But what happens when somebody has ebola? I doubt that there are quarantine facilities at border.
Maybe the White House’s statement about ebola screening at border was intended to make Obama look good to low-information voters who weren’t really paying attention to what was being said.
