Did they fix the guy’s tree stand? City slickers
To: conservative98
They've suspended deer hunting there and in a neighboring county until this dude is found, so I guess the deer stand won't be needed anyways. Kinda makes you wonder if the guy might have weakened it.... Never know..
BTW.... He was spotted in the area, about 100 yards from the troopers on Monday, and he got away.

Number one cause of injuries and death during deer season is falling out of tree stands. The stand they fell from was likely an old nailed to the tree stand and probably abandoned. I haven’t used stands like that since my youth, they’re dangerous. I have 5 metal ladder stands with shooting rails in my backyard since we lost our deer lease, property sold.

Checked a hunting calendar for Pa. and found this...
COYOTES: No closed season. Unlimited. Outside of any big game season (deer, bear, elk and turkey), coyotes may be taken with a hunting license or a furtaker license, and without wearing orange. During any big game season, coyotes may be taken while lawfully hunting big game or with a furtaker license.
Sucks to be a coyote in Pa.

I am guessing that the stand was not rated for more than 1 drunk redneck at a time...

He was spotted in the area, about 100 yards from the troopers on Monday, and he got away. You sure it wasn't Elvis they saw? Forgive my skepticism, but it would not surprise me if a false report would be made like this to try to justify the ongoing state of martial law.

The problem with wooden treestands nailed to a tree...
As the tree grows the nails stay in place and the nails are pulled through the boards.
After a few years they just fall down because nothing is holding them.

When I was at the Hunter Safety Instructors Academy in the late 80s we learned the same thing. Also they were losing more hunters to drowning than to gun accidents so we took a course on water safety.

Sucks to be a coyote in Pa.A lot of states are that way for coyotes. Here in NM, where they have feral pigs, they can be hunted with no license at all. No bag limit. Just have to follow other rules (trespassing, safety, etc...).

I should clarify that. Hunting of feral pigs requires no license in NM. I think coyote hunting still requires a license.
