Why hasn’t the U.S. closed its airports to travelers from Ebola-ravaged countries?
The Washington Post ^ | 10/02/14 | Abby Phillip

Several African nations have restricted or banned air travel from Ebola-stricken countries, and airlines including Kenya Airways, British Airways, Air Cote D’Ivoire and Nigeria's Arik Air have suspended flights from the countries. Front Page Africa reported on Wednesday, though, that Kenya Airways and Air Cote D’Ivoire are expected to resume some of their so-called "Ebola flights" this month.

Others airlines have greatly reduced air travel in the region.

I'm sorry but banning direct flights to the US would not work!! If we ban direct flights from Africa, it would have no net effect-- the infected would just circumvent this by taking connected flights.

A policy by all airlines to stop flights out of Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia is the one way to effectively control this. Putting a freeze on all visas for residents of these countries would not work, since many (like Duncan) are not natives of these countries, they are just working or visiting.

WHY?

Because “we the people” have failed to perform our constitutional duty, to overthrow our incompetent, thoroughly corrupt, criminal government.

Everything we suffer, is due to our own failure.

Here's Presidential spokesman Josh Earnest's explanation:

“Earnest argued that because people carrying Ebola don’t have symptoms when they get on planes, there isn’t a need to limit travel.”

WTF? Is this guy insane? Wouldn’t this fact argue greatly in FAVOR of limiting travel? I mean if you can’t tell the infected by inspection then don’t you put a ban on all such travel as the onlyalternativenitive? How in the world could someone say something this stupid and not get called on it?

To his credit, 0bama is thinking about closing train stations to passengers originating in Africa.

This writer doesn’t think there should be restrictions. Quarantine has always worked, but Obama wants to show solidarity with Africans by embracing the killer disease. Any government that desires to protect its population would have quarantined, completely, do whatever it takes, to protect its population three months ago. What is the government’s plan, for example, when a ebola carrier drives across the country, stopping along the way, continues on his trip. He would leave a swath of death in his wake. I noticed this morning that even primitive African countries are stopping travelers.

It wasn’t a “reason”, it was an excuse.

Their “PC morality” is such that they WANT America to be “equalized” with Liberia, out of fairness.

But, the war with common sense is such that they have to try to provide excuses.

Stopping direct flights won’t solve the problem.

But it would dramatically reduce the potential vectors. Flawed reasoning.

Why has the US not closed airports?

Here's your answer:

Ezekiel Emanuel, M.D., PhD in JAMA, 1 October 2014. p. 1297: "...there are obligations of global justice to combat Ebola and strengthen health systems and infrastructure in affected countries in the longer term. Advocates of so-called cosmopolitanism - a key position in the philosophical debate about global justice - argue that national borders have no significance and that all people, regardless of where they live, are entitled to the same education, health care services, and other social resources..."

Perhaps images of Ebola-infected kids in Dallas dead or dying? The families won’t stay quiet.

This is ridiculous. Although downplaying the risk might seem to be PC or a way to cover incompetence in the short run, eventually we will see if an outbreak occurs in the next weeks and months. If there is any significant effect on the physical or economic health of the country, there will be Hell to pay. Not stopping persons from hot zones from entering the US is insane at this point.

I can only conclude that the spirit of evil has infected 0bama and his ilk, and they want Americans to die. Take Bill Gates at his word regarding population control, judge the abortion advocates by their actions. Pure evil is the only explanation.

Let us never forget what a Nazi soldier said to a Jew as she boarded a cattle car headed for a death camp. The woman asked the soldier if the rumors were true about the camps. The soldier responded that of course they were untrue, we are not barbarians, we are a civilized people.

The fact that we are still letting flights from Liberia enter the country is totally insane. Laura Ingraham is right.

He had a visa from Liberia. All visas from the Ebola countries need to be revoked in addition to stopping the flights.

There is an up to 21-day incubation period. So it is entirely likely for an infected person to show no symptoms and not be caught by airport screening.
