NATIONAL REVIEW
SEPTEMBER 30, 2014 12:34 PM
God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.
Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.
....
Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."
"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."
"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."
The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.
I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.
Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

I can do nothing but dispense my wisdom to those that have a wisdom deficit.
I know that trying is like butting my head against th wall, but .....
That is totally unreasonable. You are asking half the voters in the country to vote for liberal R’s no matter what.
No way.
Boehner and McConnell are our enemies. McConnell has even declared war on us and our favored candidates.
I hope the Repubs win the Senate next month. I really do. I want to see that dynamic flow you speak of belong to the GOP.
But - at best - that will slow the downhill slide from a free-fall to only a fast pace.
The two problems you speak of - the debt and education of voters? Do you really believe the current Republican Party have the stones to stop the give aways and educate the voters?
If so, I have a bridge to sell you.

That is merely rationalization, not really acting but passively pretending to act while preserving self esteem.
Great post.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric Holder....
Right, BLAME Conservatives voting Conservative for Obama and Hillary???
Blame Conservatives for the complete destruction of the country if we do not vote for the Ruling Class GOP-e stooge????
Project much?
You and your pals in the DNC have a common enemy: Conservatives, and you let it show.
You are insane and getting sicker by the minute.
It is not even far-fetched to wonder what you would do if Hillary changed parties and added an (R) behind her name.
Go ahead and admit you would vote for her against Warren (D) because she is a Republican.
Should conservatives allow the GOP-E to take the conservative vote for granted even if they are treated with contempt by them? Should the GOP-E not be punished for being arrogant, effete jerks? Will the GOP-E grant amnesty for illegal alien invaders if they gain the majority? It would be nice to have a party that defines itself as a clear alternative to the Democrat-Socialist Party.
Lots of thoughts on this thread.
Lots to think about.
For me, after the debacle of Romney losing to Obama in 2012, I changed my registration to Independent from Republican.
I have been voting Republican since 1972.
This year, for the good of the country, we must gain the Senate and make more gains in the House.
That is our only hope, realistically, of hemming in Obama and his Administration from further inflicting damage to the nation.
2 more yeas of Dem control of the Senate and the Presidency will strike a fatal blow to this country.
I am not willing for that to happen.
I will vote GOP this year in an attempt to once again try to thwart the evil of Obama.
That to me, is Job 1 and the most critical thing for my country at this point in time.
The primaries are over and there is no sense arguing about what might have been.
We go to war on Election Day with the party we have.
Going forward, we need to have a new political party that represents conservative ideals and candidates.
For all the talk about the evils of third parties, the truth is that is how the GOP came into existence. They filled a need-—the fight against slavery—that the Whigs of 1854 were unwilling to confront.
That is not much different from today. We have a GOP that is unwilling to confront evil, to defend our rights, to uphold the Constitution, and to limit government.
So, as the Whigs were bypassed by the Republican Party, we need to do the same to the present day GOP.
Bypass them. Leave them in the dust of history.
Start something new for 2016 and beyond.
The present GOP had their chance when we breathed new life into them in 2010. They told us for the last four years to get stuffed.
Now we need to give them the same message—but not before we gain the Senate from that a$$hole Harry Reid.
Let’s keep our eyes on the prize.
The fate of the nation comes first.
Then our political parties.
I have no illusions that if we help the GOP take the Senate, they will not disappoint us. But I see no other way we can even come to the table for the next two years or to save the nation without voting in the GOP on Nov. 4th.
Otherwise, we will be marooned on our island of principle, while they ruin our country.
The hell with that.
Keep in mind, most of us did vote for McCain and Romney.
The problem wasn’t us. The problem was McCain and Romney.
We are trying to give you fair warning. Take it as a friendly but deathly serious reminder. Don’t send up another McCain and Romney.
We know what Democrats stand for. Send us a Republican who is prepared to do battle. Don’t make the same mistake three times in a row and then blame us for it. I’m not referring to you personally, of course, I’m referring to the GOPe grandees.
this is a significant matter ... unlike some other threads.
The Boycott the Election movement is deadly to civil discourse. And it is alive and well in the churches of New England.
I ask you to take a moment a read a short vanity:
No way I`m staying home! I`m voting third party! And if you don`t like it, BITE ME!
Wisdom???
No, you aren’t dispensing wisdom.
You are dispensing INSANITY.
The GOP and the country have followed the exact same formula you party hacks have shoved down our throats for 30-plus years and the FRUITS of voting for the Establishment are exactly what we now have: a diminishment of liberty and a capitulation to MarxoFascism.
Yet here you and your ilk are trying to shame those of us with principles into committing sin by violating our principles to vote for people in a party who declared war on us.
You are insane, not wise.
It was the Bishop Romney who put in Obama TWICE
and who installed gay marriage and ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE.
Get over it.
THE GOP is the ENEMY.
I don’t hear anyone claiming they will stay home literally. I think it is being used strictly as a figure of speech.
All I have said is I won’t vote for a statist with an “R” after his/her name. I may do a write in and that counts as voting.
they are nothing, with no morals or backbone, who choose to take my toys and go home than to drag their asses to the polls and vote..
You left out “racists.”
That was on the flier paid for and distributed by the GOPe.
Why not ask the democrats that voted for Cochran in the primary to vote for him in the general?
“You filthy Conservatives are all pieces of sh*t, and prolly raciss. Now vote for my GOPtard candidate so he can pass amnesty, grab your guns, kill more babies, shove homo-everything down your throat, and keep obamneycare in place. It’s JEB’S TURN!” ~ Jim Geraghty
The primaries are over and there is no sense arguing about what might have been. We go to war on Election Day with the party we have.
Sadly, the Party we have has ALREADY SIGNALED IT WILL SURRENDER to the Democrats should it win a majority.
2002-2006 showed us that it makes no difference if the GOP Ruling Class or Democrats are in control, the growth of tyranny proceeds unimpeded.
I won't vote for candidates in a party who have declared war on me and are traitors to our cause.
Because if our party is full of traitors, that is NOT an army I am willing to fight with. They will slit my throat while I sleep in their camp and/or hand me over to the enemy.
We cannot fix Washington from within the existing system, it will NEVER allow itself to have it's power diminished. THAT is what we are witnessing here.
