WASHINGTON – Secret Service boss Julia Pierson suddenly resigned Wednesday — a day after getting hammered in Congress over troubling White House security breaches.

“Today Julia Pierson, the Director of the United States Secret Service, offered her resignation, and I accepted it,” said Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon.

Johnson named as acting director of the troubled agency Joseph Clancy, the former Special Agent in Charge of the division that overseas protection of the president and his family.

Pierson came under intense fire over a stunning security breach Sept. 19, when armed Iraq war veteran Omar Gonzalez jumped the White House fence, sprinted across the lawn and made it past the front door and inside the White House while carrying a small knife.

Early Wednesday, powerful lawmakers from both parties called on her to go.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the Government Oversight Committee – and normally an administration defender — told MSNBC Wednesday he does “not feel comfortable with her in that position.”

That was inexcusable,.

Note that they waited until after Rush Limbaugh’s show was over to announce this.

She was appointed because she was a WOMAN and had the most seniority of any of the other women there

That is the only reason,

The last director retired after the Columbia scandal and they needed to appoint yet another bull dyke to head a federal agency

What else is wrong with the Secret Service?

After Obama trashes the military, the CIA, and the police (Ferguson), they’re probably having trouble finding a few good men willing to take a bullet for this president.

The oversight committee had a closed door session with her after the public one, so one can only imagine what further travesties have happened but not come to public attention. I think the problems go much deeper.

I'm not surprised to see this as a lot of the Secret Service's recent snafus have been inexcusable i.e. someone hopping the fence and entering the White House as well as the incident where Obama was in an elevator with an armed criminal. All of this added to past incidents where agents were drunk on the job and hiring Colombian whores. It's probably for the best.

She gets one of those puny $100,000+++ dollar per year government pensions for life.

She’ll be treated like royalty with her government provided retirement benefits and medical care pension perks...

She won regardless of how bad of job she did.

Chode, this was a very apt graphic.

I hear there are even more tales of incompetence which might get released tomorrow.

Last nite on the Kelly file, she had on an ex SS guy, who was high up in the org.

One thing he said is that he could be trueful and candid as he doesn’t work there anymore, and does not have to continue to defend them.

He is in constant contact with lots of SS guys.

He said that the whole upper echelon is incompetent and dong a horrible job running the SS.

He said most of them are focused on getting ready for other government jobs when they leave the SS.

Seeing this disgraced former director yesterday when asked how many time in 2014 did she warn Obama about threats etc she said only once, on Sept 19th.

Not that he would have listened or read the info, nevertheless it is inexcuseable.

Another Obama/Holder/Jarrett lackey who will slip between the cracks and not be held responsible for her actions.

(And be given some cushy job to keep her quiet.)

re Clinton, Kerry, Holder, Learner etc etc.

The whole lot of them need to be arrested, tried, convicted and the appropriate punishment applied, and Obama needs to be impeached NOW. And convicted in the Senate for treason and aiding the enemy.

I’d bet a paycheck on it! There has to be one (just one!) agent - one retired agent who could blow the whistle on this whole house of cards.

I somehow doubt she offered her resignation, but she needed to be held accountable and she was. I was surprised because as we all know, zero doesn’t hold anyone accountable through resignations or firings as most presidents do.
