The sister of the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States says he told relatives he notified officials the first time he went to the hospital that he was visiting from Liberia.
Mai Wureh says her brother, Thomas Eric Duncan, went to a Dallas emergency room on Friday and they sent him home with antibiotics. She says he said hospital officials asked for his Social Security number and he said that he didn't have one because he was visiting from Liberia.

Why should he probably free health care ...
First, put yourself in the shoes of the hospital staff.
The Emergency room is packed.
Most of the patients don't speak English.
Most of them are from countries whose names don't even ring a bell.
Most of the staff probably aren't experts on foreign countries, so Liberia is just another 'place' they've never heard of.
The President of the United States said there were no cases in the U.S. and it wasn't likely to ever happen. They believe him.
SO... how can you blame some low-level hospital clerk ?
The problem is that he should never have gotten IN TO the COUNTRY without undergoing quarantine.
Visiting from Liberia = no insurance = pat him on the head, give him a scrip and send him on his way.
October suprise!
Thanks President Ebola..
It is thought that fruit bats of the Pteropodidae family are natural Ebola virus hosts. Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals such as chimpanzees, gorillas, fruit bats, monkeys, forest antelope and porcupines found ill or dead or in the rainforest.
Ebola then spreads through human-to-human transmission via direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people, and with surfaces and materials (e.g. bedding, clothing) contaminated with these fluids.
Health-care workers have frequently been infected while treating patients with suspected or confirmed EVD. This has occurred through close contact with patients when infection control precautions are not strictly practiced.
Burial ceremonies in which mourners have direct contact with the body of the deceased person can also play a role in the transmission of Ebola.
People remain infectious as long as their blood and body fluids, including semen and breast milk, contain the virus. Men who have recovered from the disease can still transmit the virus through their semen for up to 7 weeks after recovery from illness.
Swell.
I wonder how many are bailing out of Africa and flying overhead right this moment....
Next stop Seattle, Houston, Boston, NY, Chicago, LA, Miami....
Ebola Airlines boarding now to USA....
If an outbreak happened at a hospital can you imagine the damage to the hospital that would be done? That is why I cannot understand why a few of the U.S. hospitals took in those infected doctors? What a risk!
Considering the state of geography education in the US, if he said he was from Liberia the workers may not have known that was in Africa.
Another president would have banned people from entering our country from infected countries!
Can you post info please. Many don’t do Facebook. Has this been confirmed?
Here’s a link for the same article, but on yahoo. ABC decided to give their entire international news headlines at the other link.

On top of all that, President Obama himself hosted an African summit earlier this year, AFTER the virus had gotten out of control in the very same countries whose leaders where flown into D.C.
Obama knew of the risk, was asked about it and determined he would not cancel the summit.

Must have. Patients who came in after him and sat on the same chair, examining table, etc. have also been exposed, along with the ER staff, who may have inadvertently spread the virus to subsequent patients.
People who know they've been exposed will be hopping on planes, concealing the symptoms, and flying over here for treatment.
Why wasn’t this guy quarantined by US Customs?
Because FEDGOV is run by incompetent morons.
And NO ONE IS EVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE (except of course if you are military)
SHTF moment is coming, very soon now.
The military has to step in and take over for a while.
CommieCare will be the least of our worries, who will want to go to a hospital anyway with ebola being spread through them?
President Ebola seems to be in hiding regarding a multitude of issues and events which are piling up.
Which brings up another question.
We’re too stupid to close the borders from those countries.
We’re also apparently too stupid to take everyone’s temperature arriving in the US from those countries.
The only evaluation is done on the ground in those countries before they board the plane. If someone spikes a fever during the long trip, we don’t find out about it until they’re out in the community, when we should be taking all temperatures upon arrival, and you have a temperature, you’re quarantined here before walking free.
Our government — and increasingly our populace - does not have the sense God gave a gnat.
