New York's Staten Island Zoo attempted to cover up news that the groundhog accidentally dropped by Mayor Bill de Blasio during the Groundhog Day celebration died from internal injuries a week after the fall, The New York Post reported.
Sources told the paper that the groundhog was a female replacement named "Charlotte." She died from internal injuries a week after the fall, the source said.

Imagine for even a second if a Republican did this!

Kind of a parable, isn’t it?

Not much of a drop. Guess those things really spend their lives on the ground.

That is just a terrible way to go. I have to say, PETA? Dropped by a socialist...imperialist.. (I know that sounds contradictory, but no true socialist lives by the rules they burden others with. They live large and in charge). And they covered it up?? Is Roger Goodell working with them too? It’s a small world in the ruling class. Sounds like she suffered quite a bit... injured and hanging onto life for a week.

Good grief! He couldn't keep a good grip on the groundhog to keep it safe for even a brief ceremony?

I say to you.
The village elder who knew of God but denied Him stood before the people and held his pride up for all to see.
His pride, a gift from those who he had deceived, lept from his arms and fell to the ground and died.
Rich is the man who does not deceive.
Rich is the man who fears the Lord.

Too bad it didn’t work that way on de Blasio, because it’s obvious he’s been dropped on his head a few times in his life.

I've heard of jumping the shark. Can we add "dropping the groundhog" as a new saying? It should connote an act that is indicative of complete and utter failure by someone who is grossly incompetent.
I've never cared for "screwing the pooch".
