Roberts continues to bumble and stumble down the field. He's not going to win the Heisman, but this is not about him, it's about the team. And for the purposes of defeating Harry Reid and his band of criminal Democrats, the Republicans need to win control of the Senate. Not only to stymie Obama for the next two years, but to retain control of the Senate in 2016. Roberts is not my hero, but he's not my enemy either. Greg Orman, his opponent is a nightmare for conservatives.

The only thing about Pat Roberts coming up “empty”, is that the “independent” running against him is coming up even more empty.

Roberts has been largely phoning it in for Kansas for years, but his only virtue is that he is “not a Democrat”, though at times that characteristic is not especially significant.

Coming Up Empty could be the GOPe's permanent slogan. I like it.

The thing here...is that the Republican leadership in Kansas should have sat down three years ago...discussed replacing Roberts, and they simply refused to do it. So you have a Republican horse that can’t race anymore...stuck racing...and just trying to win so that they can get to 2016 and replace him with someone else that they are hiding in the background.

I see the Democrats eventually having the same problem with Feinstein in 2018...running her when she’s really not capable of performing her duties anymore.

I’d also put McConnell on the same list.

Shirley, stop being a useful idiot. The Stupid Party doesn’t give a damn about you.

The GOP will NOT win the Senate.

What major things has he done for Kansas?

Did this fool vote for Roberts in the primary? If so she should STFU.

Looking back over my life, I’m wondering, ‘What major things has he done for Kansas?’

Come on, Shirley, don't be too hard on Roberts. I'm sure there is a Pat Roberts Cultural Center or bridge somewhere that resulted from pork he shoveled to Kansas. That, and the fact that now the federal debt burden on everyone in Kansas has doubled since Roberts came to office and played "go along to get along" with the Dems his entire time there.

Exactly what it comes down to. It’s a no-brainer when it comes down to what is at stake. Roberts can be replaced in the next election or he retires and we can replace him with someone even more conservative.

I find it HIGHLY AMUSING that the Washington Post was happy to find a Republican in Kansas who doesn’t like Roberts....but cannot seem to find Democrat voters who don’t like Obama.

Crazy, ain’t it? You’d think they were agenda driven at the Washington comPost.

Apparently, Milton Wolf was fairly beaten by Roberts. The problem is that Roberts has been an absentee senator. In the same way Wolf had to suffer the results of a no-recognition campaign, apparently Roberts will suffer from a “not recognized around here lately” problem.

In this political climate, a politician buying a home in Virginia is the height of stupidity. Have these people never heard of renting???

For all it opposition to our tea party candidates, the establishment keeps launching these old-timers, and they must know that that’s a long-term losing strategy. Even the GOP-E should admit that the human condition eventually has the young replacing the old.
