Weeks of U.S. Strikes Fail to Dislodge ISIS in Iraq By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK and OMAR AL-JAWOSHY SEPT. 22, 2014
BAGHDAD After six weeks of American airstrikes, the Iraqi governments forces have scarcely budged the Sunni extremists of the Islamic State from their hold on more than a quarter of the country, in part because many critical Sunni tribes remain on the sidelines.
Although the airstrikes appear to have stopped the extremists march toward Baghdad, the Islamic State is still dealing humiliating blows to the Iraqi Army. On Monday, the government acknowledged that it had lost control of the small town of Sichar and lost contact with several hundred of its soldiers who had been besieged for nearly a week at a camp north of the Islamic State stronghold of Falluja, in Anbar Province.
By midday, there were reports that hundreds of soldiers had been killed there in battle or mass executions. Ali Bedairi, a lawmaker from the governing alliance, said more than 300 soldiers had died after the loss of the base, Camp Saqlawiya. The prime minister ordered the arrest of the responsible officers, although a military spokesman put the death toll at just 40 and said 68 were missing.

No surprise. IS is still raking in $3m a day form the oil field — which the Bungler in Chief has neglected to order bombed.
Is Obama giving the OK for every Bomb dropped ? If so ,that’s why it’s a FAIL
And?
This is new news?
Lets step into my “way-back” machine and move slightly less than 50 years into the past.
Its now 1968 and we are standing beside one of the many American runways in South Vietnam and Thailand watching the daily/nightly sortie launches to perform air interdiction strikes on a logistic network called the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
We never did close that logistic network through air strikes. Even ground incursions weren’t successful.
And now Emperor Obama I expects to achieve success with less air assets in a shorter period of time? RIGHT. Got some really beautiful water front property with magnificent beaches, at low tide.
Weeks of tactical genius on the part of our president in his own personal military campaign/s
ISIS is not islamic, bombing Syria is not war.
Quagmire.
Do they know John Kerry was in Vietnam?
The civilian leadership did not learn a thing from desert shield/storm. You can own the skies and the seas, but if you don’t own the real estate, you ain’t got squat.
The only way to be rid of this cancer, is to put men on the ground with weapons and give NO mercy till they are all dead, let God sort them out.
But that will never happen with the leadership we have, they continue to make excuses and appease our enemies who WANT US ALL DEAD.
So we hear today that Obama is bombing inside of Syria. If this was Bush the lefties would be having a fit about him not having the right to do so i.e. he was not invited to protect the standing government and he has no mandate from the UN to do so. What a bunch of hypocrites they are!
We don’t want to raise their carbon footprint. It would not be socially just.
This was one of the more successful ones he fought.
So we spend a couple million bucks to blow up a tent with 1 or two ISIS thugs living inside. That is hardly a good return on investment. If Obama were serious, which I know he isn’t, the heavy bombers would be dropping cheap bombs on everything and everyone in the ISIS territories at a fraction of the cost. We also have a lot of Tritans sitting around collecting dust. Nuke those bastards back to the 600s like they want.
I’ve got a weird feeling there will be no gun camera footage on the news. A couple video sites do show them though.
So.. that retaking on the Mosul Dam and other territory by the Kurds and Iraqis adter we started airstrikes is all one big illusion? It didn’t happen after all?
Do I understand correctly that yesterday's attacks used 47 Tomahawk missiles, and that the 2015 fiscal year budget provided for the production of only 100 Tomahawk missiles (which was increased in July by Congress to 196)?
Do I also understand correctly that the replacement for the Tomahawk will be ready by 2018 at the earliest?
This article says that if we use 100 per year, we'll run out of Tomahawks in 2018. At 47 per day, we'll run out in less than a week.
What am I missing?
Sorry. Found another link claiming an inventory of 4,000 Tomahawks. If we attack daily and use 47 Tomahawks per attack, we’re good for 85 days. In fiscal year 2015, we buy another 3-1/2 days’ worth.
[a.k.a., how can you tell when you're on the wrong side?]

[and it is -- Bush actually was President of the US]
