I understand why you are saying that, but I have to say that you are totally and unequivocally wrong about this. I've heard the comments about how the jihadists are ‘not afraid to die’. Guess what, when it comes to our children's futures, most of us aren't afraid of ANYTHING.

Love is always greater than hate. Always, without exception. The jihadi’s aren't motivated by love, and if it ever gets to the point at which we feel we need to give our own lives to protect our children, the jihadists will learn a very, very important lesson about what is truly the greatest motivation. I guarantee this. They will never, ever win. That is not even a slight question.

The only question is about how much suffering they will cause before they become another failed act of hate-driven aggression.

What these men are doing is a variant of the chevauchee adopted by the English during Hundred Years War. It's not original to either the English or Muslim warriors and has been used again and again throughout the history of armed conflict, but the idea is to bring us to battle at a time and place favorable to them, while rallying both donors and ghazis (warriors) to the cause. Bin Laden was hoping to repeat what he saw as Afghanistan's critical role in bringing about the collapse of the Soviet Union, by drawing us in and breaking us morally, economically and militarily. He believed he would outlast us. If Obama pulls out of Afghanistan, jihadists will be heartened. If the Afghan government falls to the Taliban, I expect we will see another 9/11 on our soil in the decade ahead.

Islam originated with Muhammad and a band of brigands numbering in the dozens. It compelled the submission of millions of pagan, Jewish and Christian parents (who presumably loved their children) in North Africa, Arabia, Persia and Central Asia, all of them part of advanced (for that time) civilizations that pre-existed Islam by at least hundreds of years. If they ever do catch up technologically, we are in big trouble.

Just STFU already we get it. If your failed societies are any measure, you’l fall apart under your own weight in time. I’m not saying don’t take these idiots seriously, we’ve seen they can cause a lot of chaos if they try. I’m saying given time (and the occasional “push”) they’ll turn on each other. Sunni Vs. Shia, Arab Vs. Persian, etc. We need to focus on making sure they destroy each other. They are already inclined to do so by their very nature. What inevitable demise? Islam started out with Muhammad and a few dozen people in a tiny fragment of what is now Saudi Arabia. It conquered Christian lands in North Africa, Arabia (all of which was pagan, Christian or Jewish) and Europe (all of Turkey, Albania, Kosovo was once Christian), Hindu lands in Pakistan and Bangladesh, Buddhist lands in Central Asia (Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kirghizstan and Kazakhstan) and the Zoroastrian land of Persia. They are Muslim to this day. The population of Turkey has more Greek than Central Asian blood - most are native to the Anatolian peninsula from before the time of Alexander. And they are as Muslim today as they were Greek Orthodox before Islam overran their lands.
