Michelle Obama has been on a quest to change the way Americans eat, like it or not. Her nutritional guidelines for schools has resulted in kids throwing away massive amounts of food, a reduction in school lunch program participation, students, especially athletes, complaining that the food isnt enough to sustain them during the day, and Special Education programs losing their main fundraising program.
....
Now, Michelle Obama wants to take her nutritional demands from the school system nationwide with major changes being suggested by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to nudge Americans to purchase healthier foods. While the expert panel had a supposed target of the 47 million Americans, and growing, who are on food stamps, the suggestions will impact everyone who shops at a grocery store. The Washington Free Beacon reported on this attempt by the USDA, using Michelle Obamas guidelines, to nudge consumers on nutritional choices.
....
This plan to nudge Americans to make healthier food choices includes high-tech, $30,000 grocery carts, MyCart grocery cart, which would help consumers know they have the appropriate amount of government approved food choices. The color-coded cart would have sections with sensors installed to praise the customer when they have a cart filled to its healthy threshold. The report cited the cost for changing to the high-tech grocery cart for Safeway, Inc., which has 1,335 stores nationwide, would be $40.05 million.

Tell us about her.
Stop that woman! She’s trying to steal two pumpkins!!!
As long as there “healthier choices” involve restricting healthy animal, I will be ignoring them.
Stalin controlled the food in Russia. He starved 50 million Russians. Hands off my food, Missy Prez.
Had to look up ice milk since I have never heard of it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_milk
Ice milk, or iced milk, is a frozen dessert with less than 10 percent milkfat and the same sweetener content as ice cream. Ice milk is typically priced lower than ice cream and is typically sold as a generic product.
A 1994 change in United States Food and Drug Administration rules allowed ice milk to be labeled as low-fat ice cream in the United States.[1]
Products containing less milk fat but higher sweetener content are sold as sherbet, and products with no milk fat or dairy analogues are sold as sorbet. Products which use nonfat or lowfat yogurt or dairy analogues are sold as frozen yogurt.
John, are you writing under the "Jennifer Burke" pseudonym again? Only you could dream up something this crazy.
Mooch should really be committed to perpetual care in the nuthouse. This is beyond the pale.
You forgot “arrogant.”
I’m sure her dreams are filled with someday being a female Castro or any other brutal, inhuman dictator.
Resistance is futile.
I want a high-tech, $30,000 grocery cart for when I’m living in a cardboard hooch under the under-pass. Makes collecting aluminum cans a breeze.
I don't need "government approved" food. I'll continue to eat what I like.
Give her a ride in the cart— bet the display goes to “tilt.”
I wonder if they will have those in the liquor store? Perhaps it can direct me to the proper mix of wine, beer, and spirits.
I detest grocery shopping and started doing it on-line and having it delivered.
I felt a little silly doing it but, after reading this post,Im now comfortable with my decision.
I just love these satire articles.
