How is Al Qaeda distinct from a plausibly deniable Saudi military wing?

Since the FBI was busy squiring Saudis out of the U.S. in the days after 9/11, I guess we’ll never know.

There is no strategic value for the US to be doing anything in the ME. We can be totally energy independent.

Beyond time to walk away from the Saudi's

Those who (mis)classified and have continued to (mis)classify those 28 pages should be charged with abuse of classification authority, have it removed, and permanently lose their security clearances.

If the Federation of American Scientists is in favor of the reclassification, then my knee-jerk response is to oppose it.

But I’m probably wrong.

Al Qaeda were enemies of the Saudis, they wanted to overthrow them because they allowed infidels to occupy Arabia with military bases.

Of course, there were Al Qaeda sympathizers in the Saudi ruling class, but in general, they were opposed to each other. Both groups are Wahhabists, but Al Qaeda were also Salafists. The Salafist elements in the Saudi leadership sympathized with them, but the rest did not.

Saudi Arabia ran/runs the student visa pipeline to the US. The terrorists on 9/11 could have come from anywhere. The terrorists still using the pipeline: DITTO.

“....one of the United States’ greatest tragedies.”

An attack by terrorists is NOT a tragedy - it’s a perfidy.
