The Baltimore Raven was indefinitely suspended but even one of his teammates suited up after punching a girlfriend in the neck. So much for zero tolerance.
[Snip]
Ray Rices teammate and All-Pro linebacker Terrell Suggs has twice gotten into altercations with his then-girlfriend and current wife. In 2009, he allegedly, threw a soap dispenser at her head, hit her in the chest with his hand, and held a bottle of bleach over her and their 1-year-old son. In 2012, he punched her in the neck and dragged her alongside a speeding car with their two children in the vehicle. Unlike Rice, Suggs was on the field with the rest of the Ravens on Sunday.
Carolina Panther Greg Hardy was convicted this summer of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening her life.
He looked me in my eyes and he told me he was going to kill me, Nicole Holder told the court. I was so scared I wanted to die. When he loosened his grip slightly, I said, Just do it. Kill me,
Hardy was given a 60-day suspended sentence and put on probation for 18 months. Last Sunday, he suited up for the Panthers, registering one sack and four tackles.
Brandon Marshall, wide receiver for the Chicago Bears, has a rap sheet including two domestic violence charges. He caught eight passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in an overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills last weekend.

I’m sure Congress has/had ‘Ray Rices’ just like any organization.
I’m sure the Daily Beast has/had Ray Rices.
My point is it’s not the NFL’s fault.
There’s too much blaming the institution for someone’s wrongdoing.
Maybe blaming the institution has some validity when it’s a group of children, however they are all adults in the NFL.
Hey, hey, hey!
My team felons are not nearly as crooked and sleazy as your team felons.
I wonder if it’s also full of Jerry Joneses.
“I thought the NFL is the most popular pro sport by far, and looking at the current culture this isnt surprising. Are ratings dropping?”
There was a story about how week one ratings were down, and it seems to be part of a trend. I don’t know the details, because I don’t really care. Part of my lack of caring is my bias, the Browns are so pathetic, and so reliably, consistently pathetic, I’m predisposed to be down on the NFL.
Trying to put that aside, the NFL has 2 major problems, in my opinion.
First, it’s the urban, thug culture.
Second, it’s the necessary over officiating. It’s a violent game, played by huge, fast people. They have to protect the players, but in doing so, they’ve almost turned it into glorified flag football. College football is much more fun to watch.
No wonder they don’t pan and scan over to the wive’s seating section during the games like they do in baseball.
The audience would see a bunch of women in wheel chairs, casts, and black eyes.
Between the thug/gangsta players and the lefty homo sportscasters always pushing their agendas, the NFL has zero appeal to me nowadays. It’s gone from an enjoyable, exciting weekend pasttime to a pathetic and grotesque farce.
The Browns, currently in their eleventh rebuilding season!
I think there is no way to get rid of the jerkwads in pro-football without doing something about the super popular free farm system for the NFL. There is so much money in college football and it is so popular that jerkwads with any talent are allowed to keep being entitled jerkwads and aren’t weeded out. I don’t see it changing.
Also, the parts about on field NFL that make me cringe, the swishy celebrations and posturing, are seemingly one of the most popular things among most NFL fans. It appeals to the lowest common denominator in my opinion, but I don’t see it changing.
Head injury through the course of a football career is pretty serious for the NFL. Not even catastrophic concussions, but just repeated light blows and jarring to the brain. I don’t know what the solution is to that. That and HGH are the two subjects that the NFL really doesn’t like to come up.
Freegards
And people actually watch this NFL crap.
The NFL is full of criminals, bloods, crips just to name a few. Wouldn’t surprise me to find a KKK or two or even a hard core biker.
The ratings are dropping as people are catching on.
It’s not what it was
Plus among the owners you have “model citizens” like Jim Irsay and Jerry Jones.
You know folks, we can dance around this all we like, but there is a driving force in this, and nobody wants to take it on, head on.
The popular culture, piped up from the sewer to our children via rap music on top hit radio stations, presents this very picture as the one the cool dudes emulate.
Beat yo ho all night long. She’s a tramp. She’s your property. If she acts out, beat her down...
Right now we’re focused on football players. Hell, they aren’t selling this to our kids. They sell a sport. And yes, some of them act out. I don’t deny it. The NFL isn’t financing spots that tell kids to hit their women. The rap music stars sell the very concept in plan, well scrath that, but something close enough to English that you can still make out the words and thoughts.
Why are we focusing on the NFL?
- Former Cowboy fan who's had it with feeling like a Cubs fan
Its because half of them come from the Hood.
No, they will find a way to keep them on the field.
Lady sounds like a hoe. (how the NFL players see their women)
