The Baltimore Raven was indefinitely suspended but even one of his teammates suited up after punching a girlfriend in the neck. So much for zero tolerance.

Ray Rices teammate and All-Pro linebacker Terrell Suggs has twice gotten into altercations with his then-girlfriend and current wife. In 2009, he allegedly, threw a soap dispenser at her head, hit her in the chest with his hand, and held a bottle of bleach over her and their 1-year-old son. In 2012, he punched her in the neck and dragged her alongside a speeding car with their two children in the vehicle. Unlike Rice, Suggs was on the field with the rest of the Ravens on Sunday.
Carolina Panther Greg Hardy was convicted this summer of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening her life.
He looked me in my eyes and he told me he was going to kill me, Nicole Holder told the court. I was so scared I wanted to die. When he loosened his grip slightly, I said, Just do it. Kill me,
Hardy was given a 60-day suspended sentence and put on probation for 18 months. Last Sunday, he suited up for the Panthers, registering one sack and four tackles.
Brandon Marshall, wide receiver for the Chicago Bears, has a rap sheet including two domestic violence charges. He caught eight passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in an overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills last weekend.

Doubly punishing players would definitely raise howls from their union, the NFL Players Association ... and the 32 team owners arent particularly interested in having their very valuable assets taken away from them.
What is it 1/3 of the NFL are felons ?
It’s in their blood.
“Putting your woman in her place” is part of the urban culture. The NFL is dominated by the urban culture, and that partially explains dropping ratings.
OJ Simpson
Yes, beating females when you are po’ed or frustrated is a long tradition in athletics. Many muscles, few brains.
Soooo many truths that shall not be spoken regarding those people...
There's the key. If his fiance was still in a coma and nobody caught the beat down on video, Ray Rice would be suiting up on Sunday.
The NFL players are product, that’s all they are.
That thuggery is the demand of the mob (let’s call the “fans” what they are) isn’t the players’ fault.
"To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his a** off for all his life just to gain ratings is a horrific [sic]. THIS IS OUR LIFE!" she wrote in an Instagram posted today. -Janay Rice
This is why I don’t watch football any more. It’s our version of the Colosseum and the NFL provides the gladiators. How long until a player dies on TV for our amusement?
Ray’s REAL sin was doing this on camera.
Heard some of the moms the other day at the filed hockey game talking about how they refuse to go the the pro football games because of all the drunks throwing up and the language.
Apparently sexual assault isn’t limited to just the players.
You buy the ticket, you take the ride.
Sounds eerily similar to riding public transportation.
yes, I would rather drive, even if its cross country
Once again it proves the old adage “You can take a person out of the gutter, but you can’t take the gutter out of a person” Unfortunately way too many females find this behavior attractive and consider this to be a free meal ticket.
“The NFL is dominated by the urban culture, and that partially explains dropping ratings.”
On the field the modern rules and technology doesn’t allow the cool players to police the jerkwads. Thus fruity celebration gyrations and chest slapping displays after even mundane plays. But I think that garbage is popular amongst the average NFL fan, thus the fan outrage when they put in rules against excessive celebrations.
I thought the NFL is the most popular pro sport by far, and looking at the current culture this isn’t surprising. Are ratings dropping?
