Jewish Home party chairwoman MK Ayelet Shaked responded Monday morning to reports that the Egyptian government had offered the Palestinian Authority a state extending from Gaza through the Sinai Peninsula, and called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to take it seriously.
Aiming a barb at the Israeli Left, she said the initiative proved how out of touch they were.
"If the report is indeed correct, the president of Egypt has managed to understand what the Left in Israel has refused to understand for decades."
She asserted that the solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian "needs to be regional, and cannot fall solely on Israel's shoulders. I call on the prime minister to meet with the Egyptian president to examine the feasibility of the initiative."

If this is true, it is a major and historical breakthrough because it the first time any Arab country has proposed homeland for the Palestinians that is not Israel.
The Sinai was Israel. As was Gaza.
“Land for peace” does not work.
Land for peace does not work.
But the Sinai is not Israeli anymore, it is Egypt.
Egypt is the first Arab country since 1948 to actually propose a solution that does not include handing a part of Israel over to it's enemies.
Hamas can dig as many tunnels in the Sinai as they want, but just where are they going to dig them to?
I can’t wait to hear what that idiot John Kerry has to say about this offer....
That’s the “land for peace” attitude. It has not worked since 1979 and it will not work now.
Fatah are terrorists also. You’ve heard of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, I take it? They’ve been involved in attacking Israel recently as well as Hamas and Hezbollah. They also refuse to recognize Israel and will not settle for anything less than a Judenrein Levant.
If nothing else, this calls the Palestinians on their game. They really aren’t interested in a “state of their own” - unless it is the one they have occupied after they have driven the Israelis out.
Their main objective is to get rid of Israel. They will turn down this or any other offer that does not involve that.
Eilat, for starters. And they will still have Ghaza. I think we’re talking about a homeland contiguous with Israel’s southern border.
Egypt and the Saudis seem to be turning against them. Jordan has been since quite a few Septembers ago.
Assad has problems of his own in Syria and can't be bothered and the same can be said for Iraq.
Europeans and the UN do what the Saudis pay them to do.
Perhaps the external foreign support is decreasing as the scum bags in the Middle East are finding that they are about to be consumed by the hate they have fostered.
Maybe we should hire some actors to work the Sinai with tractors and sing Israeli songs, and then the Palis come along and they turn tail and run, leaving the tractors behind. Then they have ‘conquered’ it and chased out the Zionist occupiers. Then again, they are likely to kill a few actors, so I guess that’s out, unless we can persuade SAG members to do it.
Sisi Offered Abbas: Create Palestinian State in Sinai

We blinked and missed it. They already did reject it.
If? There is no source for this report about Sisi being willing to give up Sinai. It would seem to be unreal, because if he did so, there would be an outcry in Egypt.
Not the whole peninsula. It’s a big place. Possible for a million or so people to wander around in it for forty years. Just an extension from Ghaza Southward along the Med coast. Palis have already rejected it for the usual reason: !. Too much like having a life; and 2. Israelis don’t suffer.
