In an article about police shootings in last Sunday's New York Times (8/31), Michael Wines disputes the conventional wisdom about a disproportionate number of African-Americans being shot by police, saying there are no data one way or another. But Wines revives the canard about blacks being disproportionately targeted in traffic stops.
There actually is a study for that.
Throughout the 1990s, the nation was fixated on tales of jack-booted New Jersey state troopers who were stopping speeders on the turnpike just because they were black! In a 2000 primary debate, Vice President Al Gore sneered at then-New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley, saying, "Racial profiling practically began in New Jersey, Senator Bradley."
Attorney General Eric Holder recently paid tribute to the myth, claiming that when he was in college, he had been stopped "driving from New York to Washington." He didn't mention how fast he was going.
The story never made sense. How could the troopers tell the race of drivers in speeding cars? Did they wait until the driver rolled down his window and, if he was white, say, "Oh, sorry -- have a nice day!"
But the Clinton administration was slapping consent decrees for racial profiling on police departments across the country, and the N.J. highway patrol was its prime evidence, based on a study that a child wouldn't believe.
As is usually the case with bogus race studies, the pivotal 1993 survey compared speed stops on the New Jersey turnpike to the population of all drivers on the turnpike -- not with the population of all speeders on the turnpike.
Such meaningless studies are popular on the left, where it is assumed that people of different races, genders and ethnicities will always behave identically in all respects.

When I worked in detroit 15 yrs ago...i drove the same hwy in and home...every day....i saw several pulled over every day...After a while I noticed they were almost all white women...in fancy cars that were pulled over...started keeping track of it....did so for 2 yrs.....had my crew keeping track too...in those 2 yrs saw a few gangbanger cars ...broke down along the road....but not ONE pulled over for infraction...not one...in 2 yrs...at that time about 1 out of 5 cars were big rim “gangsta” cars.....they just didnt pull them over......at all.....Ive decided this is part of the disease that ate detroit.....going for the revenue.....the cops stopped pulling over the cars that might be dangerous and would produce no revenue...and over time the resault can be seen clearly...

I heard a rumor that I think could have been an airline employee, who thought the 9/11 hijackers he saw, were acting suspicious, but he did not tell anyone, because he did not want to be called a racist. I don't know if this is true or not, but it seems plausible. I think some people would be more willing to see the US attacked with nuclear weapons, rather than be called a racist, as if bring called a racist, is a fate worse than death. That's pretty sick.

The Black coaches typically win that comparison.

Here in NJ? In a 65 mph speed zone? Almost everyone is driving 80-90 mph... easily. LOL. Really, when I do 70, I have to stay in the slow lane.

I've run completely out of what little tolerance I may have in the reservoir for islam and its satanic adherents. As a case in point, an otherwise outgoing and pleasant fellow who clerks at the convenience store that I frequent developed a friendly relationship over the past several years. I always thought he was of Indian decent judging by his accent and complexion. Just a couple of days when were amicably chatting about the weather, I finally asked about his background. He revealed that he was from Pakistan but lived here in Texas for the past thirty years. I then bluntly asked if he was a mooselimb. When he replied affirmatively, I literally threw my money for the purchase at him and boldly proclaimed that I would never come to his store again. There's no doubt in my mind that he was practicing taqiyya all of those years. I have no use for him or any other member of that pernicious death cult.
I want them gone. All of them. Every single muzzie. No exceptions.
Not to mention that a certain amount speeding tickets are given when it’s dark.
It’s hard to see if a black person is “driving while black” at night as the cop is in pursuit.
