Eye and head tracking sensors will make it harder to text while driving
General Motors is reportedly installing sensors in its next generation of cars that will detect drivers eye and head motions and alert drivers to prolonged moments of distraction...

I predict a rash of accidents caused by drivers who were distracted by their GM Motion Sensors beeping or shouting at them.
Yes, like turning the damned thing off while driving. CRASH!!!!!
it should be a function of the phone, not the car.
My first thought was the scene from “A Clockwork Orange”.
maybe they should focus on cars that don’t have problems with the starter first...you know...something basic to the car.
I heard talk like that back when they started putting seat belts in cars ...
Ridiculous and stupid. I will put black tape over the sensors. And so will everyone else.
That will definitely make a car cheaper for poor people.

GM will make you suffer by putting this gadget on the same circuit as the A/C.
Disconnect it, better yet reroute it continuously open.
My father once looked at a Chrysler New Yorker.
He opened the door, sat down, and the car promptly nagged him with “Your door, is a jar” [exactly how it said it.]
My father snapped at the car “no it’s not, it’s a door!”
He handed the keys back to the dealer who asked, “How do you like the car?”
My dad responded with “I don’t need a car to tell me when to wipe my butt, thank you.”
Keep your mind on your driving,
Keep your hands on the wheel,
Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead.
We're having fun, sitting in the back, seat kissing and a-hugging with Fred.
Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom
Dee doody doom doom, DOOM!
When did we all decide to become Luddites?
I’m with your dad. Machines that tell me what to do really piss me off, unless I ask them a question.
No more looking at cute girls while driving. LIB Madness.
They should have bad driving detectors. If they profiled the braking and steering patterns, they’d know who was getting out of the “zone” and needing to panic-correct. If you pay attention, your insurance company should give you a discount.
About the only thing he liked was a little door indicator light.
But a voice module, that was it.
He asked the guy questions about it, how it was hooked up, what was wired to it, how it could be disabled.
The dealer said, “It can’t be disabled, why are you unplugging that?”
My father grinned, then opened the door, and left it open.
He then walked over to look at another car.
The New Yorker sat silent and open.
Much to the mystification of the dealer.
[Back then, they didn’t have a billion things wired through the same point or relay. These days, you’d lose a bunch of stuff if you disabled a voice module.]
