Probably over 95% of all species that have ever lived on earth are now extinct. It should not be surprising that many species now on earth are headed for the exit door.

Bush’s fault.
(Someone had to say it.)
This probably includes the dinosaurs and life before that period not seen now. So we are guilty of the dinosaurs and that life?
Please
Will duh. SUV’s. Hello. :>}
“Yo! Gazelles! How would you like a knuckle sandwich?”
Bullies......they’re everywhere.
George Carlin on the Environment.
Uh, it's Carlin, do I really need to add the language warning?
SUV's killed the dinosaurs??
I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. Would you like it?
Species die; new species created. It’s life
Heh, that SUV line was obviously referring to the type of illogic only emanating from progressives.
Just in care you hadn’t heard, an SUV was responsible for killing that “innocent gentle giant” in Missouri also.
Probably over 95% of all species that have ever lived on earth are now extinct.
What a ridiculoous statement. Utterly ridiculous.
...And to BEGIN with the word - “probably” just tells me this person has the mind of a 13 yr old. -Oh, they KNOW!!! - probably...
How much for the bridge? LOL!
Maybe they should have used “approximately”. Or “Based on a SWAG”. Or “Some concerned/a consensus of scientists claim...”. Kinda like 4 out of 5 dentists, when asked.....
Yeah, my reaction to that series has always been that if everybody's dead, who cares what happens to the buildings afterward?
I just shook my head everytime there were promos for it.
There have been at least 5 great extinctions events on Earth (probably more) plus numerous lessor extinctions. But for our purposes we will use 5 as the number of events and 90% as the efficiency of an event.
After event one 90% of all things are extinct.
After event two 90% of all new life is extinct plus the 90% from event one. 100/(90 + 90)= 55%. In other words 55% of everything is extinct.
After 5 events you get 100/(90 + 90 + 90 + 90 + 90)= 22%
So just counting great extinction events we can see that 88 % of everything is extinct. One would only have to conclude that lessor events and normal extinctions happen to easily see that the 95% figure is conservative and that a much more likely number would be greater then 99%.
FYI changing the efficiency to 80% or 70% doesn't change the numbers much 25%-28% vrs 22%.
Read the entire piece. Every response to this article is off-base. The writer is on the mark. The quote presented is not the jist of the writing. Sheeeeeshh...
LOL! Well I feel threatened by the current admin but do I get a support group? NOOOOOO!
Lots of useless insects too....
What a ridiculoous statement. Utterly ridiculous.
True. The correct figure is 99%.
WE ARE THE ONE PERCENTERS.
